Da Praça Herzl e da Grande Sinagoga começamos a caminhada guiada no Bairro Judeu, incluindo os principais marcos do gueto da Segunda Guerra Mundial de 1944.
Pare na Sinagoga da Rua Dohány, também conhecida como a Grande Sinagoga, é um edifício histórico em Erzsébetváros, o 7º distrito de Budapeste, Hungria. É a maior sinagoga da Europa, com capacidade para 3.000 pessoas e é um centro do judaísmo neolog. Em uma pequena rua lateral, você encontra a sinagoga ortodoxa de Budapeste. A Sinagoga Ortodoxa foi construída em 1913, na época um design muito moderno. Apresenta toques tardios em art nouveau e está decorado com cores vivas por toda parte. Os vitrais no teto foram projetados por Miksa Róth.
Damos nossos cumprimentos no Memorial dos Sapatos na Margem do Danúbio, que foi revelado em 16 de abril de 2005, em memória das vítimas judaicas que foram assassinadas neste local durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Foram forçados a tirar os sapatos antes de serem baleados na margem do rio, os corpos levados pelo Danúbio. Julia is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to while we walked around the Jewish Quarter. She provided us with a wonderful overview of many historical facts during the tour. The places she took us to were very interesting and we felt that we got an exceptional and memorable picture of the history and lives of Jews in Budapest.
I had an incredible experience with Petra as my tour guide in Budapest. She arrived at my hotel right on time and was extremely informative. Her knowledge of the Jewish history in Budapest was outstanding. She took me to the Great Synagogue and several other synagogues, explaining everything in deep detail. We also visited the Danube River to see the bronze shoes. The day was perfectly organized, and the entire history she shared was so moving. I highly recommend Petra—she was simply excellent.
