Amazing Food

I could not recommend this tour more. Lodi really does take you to local spots that gave me some of the best food I had in Zanzibar. He truly knows everyone in the area, and you really get a unique experience. A perfect way to eat and explore stone town

The "authentic" part is really true!

This was food tour was fantastic! Not only is the food great, but you get off the beaten path. There are stops on this tour a tourist would never find by themselves. 10/10!

A must do for food lovers

Our Eat Like a Zanzibari Street Food Tour with Lodi was hands down one of the highlights of our time in Stone Town! From the very start, Lodi’s charisma and warm personality made us feel completely at ease. He’s exceptionally well known around town, so everywhere we walked there were smiles, waves, and quick chats with friends — it felt like exploring with a true local celebrity. We wandered through the streets he knows so well, stopping at carefully chosen street vendors and hidden gems you would never find on your own. One of our favorite moments was visiting his sister’s home for freshly made samosas — such a special and personal touch that made the experience feel incredibly authentic. We also stopped at a local bakery where we watched the bread being prepared and then tasted it warm and fresh. Absolutely delicious! The food throughout the tour was outstanding. The Zanzibar stew was rich and flavorful, the fresh bread straight from the bakery was irresistible, the samosas were perfectly crisp and tasty, and the porridge was comforting and satisfying. Every bite told a story of local tradition. What truly made the tour unforgettable was Lodi’s knowledge. He shared so much history, culture, and insight along the way — you can tell how passionate he is about Zanzibar. He’s so friendly and welcoming, and through him we genuinely connected with locals and experienced the real authenticity of Stone Town. If you want to experience Zanzibar beyond the tourist spots and truly eat like a local, this tour with Lodi is an absolute must. We loved every minute of it!

Walk with a local

Lodi is charismatic and exceptionally well known in Stone Town so expect lots of hellos and quick chats with friends. We walked around the street he knows so well stopping at street vendors, his sisters house for a samosa and the locally bakery where we watched the bread being prepared. If you want lots of info on the history of the town or food you won’t get it. If you want to wander the alleys with a local and try foods you probably wouldn’t otherwise give this a try. Lodi doesn’t pretend to be an expert , he’s a local bloke showing what people eat in the town.

A must do in Stone Town

We had a fantastic evening exploring Stone Town and trying foods we would never have imagined had we not done the tour. Lordy was great and the other two couples were lovely who joined the tour. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Walk through the city with guide saying hi to his mates

The walk through the town itself was enjoyable, but I had no idea what I was looking at. There was no commentary or context provided about the landmarks or the history, so the experience felt incomplete. Without any explanation of the city or its significance, it was difficult to appreciate what we were seeing.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed walking through the town itself. It does sound like there may have been a bit of a misunderstanding about the nature of our experience. Our Stone Town street food tour is designed to be a sensory, local experience focused on food, everyday life, and moving through the city as residents do, rather than a traditional historical or landmark-based city tour with detailed commentary at each site. For guests looking specifically for in-depth historical explanations of landmarks and architecture, a dedicated Stone Town history tour is usually a better fit. We truly appreciate your perspective, as it helps us continue to clarify expectations for future guests, and we’re grateful you chose to spend time exploring Stone Town with us.

High yield tour with an exceptional guide

This just might be the highest yield 2-hour tour in Stonetown. We finished the tour completely satisfied - with full bellies, a lot of knowledge, and feeling like we’d seen an insider’s perspective. Lodi is a charismatic host who knows everyone and everyplace in the neighborhood. He took our family on a food adventure we could never have had on our own. A parent himself, he tolerated our two very tired young children, helping us engage them and keep them moving throughout the tour. The food was delicious. We turned down alleyways I never would have seen, much less walked through, on my own. I can’t think of another better way to have a meal in a new city.

♥️MY WALK THRU STONE TOWN♥️

Lordy was an amazing tour guide and the food was delicious. It felt like walk with a member of my family who just so happens to know everyone. My favorite was the samosas and the yuca.

Good food and local exploration but limited information

The food tour was good and we were able to try a range of street food which we definitely would not have known about or been able to find on our own. The guide was very nice but unfortunately did not give us much information about the food or the area. We saw a lot of stone town and walked through alleyways etc that we would not have stumbled across of our own accord. This was a definite plus. overall the tour was good but the lack of information provided throughout did let it down a bit for us.
