Great castle tour

Alicia gave us an amazing guided tour of the castle… Lots of good stories and interesting information, and particular how life was on a daily basis in the castle. Highly recommend.

The world largest brick castle.

Beautiful castle of teutonic knights. We enjoyed the self tour. It's the world's largest brick castle and the largest Gothic fortress by land. It does missing some historical collections. Caries the largest amber collection.

A good way to spend half a day.

I got a text from the tour operator asking me if I could move up the tour a day earlier because I was the only participant and the tour needed at least two. Anyhow, it turned out even a day earlier was still only two people so it was kind of a semi-private tour which was fine by me. The driver Chris was a soon to be retired historian so we had a few chats related to the castle and also the history Gdansk. Our tour guide as a lady name Alicia, she has been a tour guide there for a very long time and witnessed the rebuilding of the castle. We spent about 3 hrs touring the castle. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. If you have an extra day in Gdansk, visiting Melbrok Castle is an good option.

Loved learning about the history

The experience was great. The guide was. Very knowledgeable. The only thing that I kinda bummed out about was that we had to meet a timeline and I didn’t have more time at the end to check out the Amber exposition they have there. Overall, I do recommend for transportation facilitation and get the history of castle, which is amazing.

Dear Traveller, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re very glad to hear that you found the tour well organised and appreciated the professionalism of our driver and guides. We understand your point about the pace however, all tours that we provide are the standard ones supplied by the Museum. We do not have any influence on the length. The Museum is visited by many visitors daily, and everyone can spend only a limited time there. Thank you for choosing us and we hop to see you again very soon! All the best, Gabriela from MrShuttle

Over priced!

Over priced for what you get. Felt rushed. 3 hours long so be prepared for lots of walking. Lovely castle though and biggest in the world so worth checking out of castles are your thing.

Take the time.

Everything went smoothly and the experience was well worth it. Driver pickup and tour guide had excellent information to share. We were picked up in Sopot at 730AM and back at 130PM. 3 hours with the guide in the Castle. You could spend much more time but with the guide you see the important stuff. By starting early you miss some of the crowd and it was great to explore and take pictures with our guide.

Looked the best tour, but i was disappointed

When I booked this tour, it was said to be 5-6hours duration. We were collected by shuttle, then 50mins drive to the castle. I was excited for the tour - but it was only for 3 hours!! Very disappointed in this. While in Malbork, this was my chance to get the full knowledge & experience of the castle while here... but it fell short! May I suggest your guides speak into a device that projects to our handheld devices? (Like Neuschwansteincastle have - so much better!) - so that we can hear you in the cavernous rooms with other louder voices. We all had to stand closer & closer to the guide to hear above some booming voices, then no chance for photos. There was a delay then, so we could take photos. Some areas were not told us as we walked past, that I had to ask about. I wished for the remaining 2 hours of the tour, or at least a refund for the unused portion..

An Outstanding Tour of the Magnificent Malbork Castle

This was an excellent tour of Malbork Castle. Our driver picked us up promptly at our hotel in Gdansk and drove us to the castle, about 45 minutes, providing interesting information about the area along the way. There was one other couple in the van. Once we arrived, our driver went in and got our tickets and then introduced us to our private guide. Since the other couple had chosen an audio tour, we had the guide completely to ourselves. She was extremely knowledgeable of the castle's history and walked us throughout the massive complex explaining what we were seeing in detail and answering all our questions. She was a delightful person. After the 2-hour tour, we were reunited with our driver and returned to our hotel. Overall, an outstanding experience!

Review of Malbork Castle Visit with My Family

Our visit to Malbork Castle, the largest brick castle in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Located in northern Poland, this medieval fortress was once the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights and is a must-see for history enthusiasts. Arrival and First Impressions As we approached the castle, the sheer size of the structure was awe-inspiring. The towering brick walls and massive gates make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The castle is situated on the banks of the Nogat River, providing beautiful views that add to its charm. Exploring the Castle Grounds Once inside, we were able to explore the castle at our own pace. The complex is vast, with several sections, including the High Castle, Middle Castle, and Lower Castle. We started by wandering through the impressive courtyard, where we were immediately taken in by the towering walls and sprawling layout. The High Castle, which housed the grandest rooms, was a highlight. We marveled at the intricately detailed walls and beautiful frescoes that remain preserved despite centuries of wear. It was fascinating to imagine what life must have been like for the knights and rulers who lived here. The Museum Exhibits One of the most impressive aspects of Malbork Castle is its museum. Inside, the exhibits are well-curated and informative, giving us insights into the castle's history, the Teutonic Order, and medieval military life. Our kids especially enjoyed the displays of weapons, armor, and the detailed models of the castle at different stages of its development. The Grand Refectory and the chapel were two other highlights. The chapel’s stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere were incredible, and the refectory’s long tables evoked images of medieval feasts. Activities and Guided Tours We opted for a guided tour, which was a great decision. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing fascinating stories and legends that brought the history of the castle to life. Our children enjoyed the interactive parts of the tour, like exploring the underground chambers and hearing about the knights’ daily lives. For those with an interest in history or architecture, this castle is a treasure trove of stories. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn in depth about the castle’s role in the history of Europe and the Teutonic Knights’ rise and fall. The Surroundings and Views The castle’s location next to the river is perfect for taking in the surrounding scenery. We spent some time walking around the outer walls, which offered beautiful panoramic views of the river and surrounding landscape. The entire experience felt like a journey through time. Family-Friendly Aspects Malbork Castle is incredibly family-friendly. The paths are mostly easy to navigate, though there are some steps and uneven surfaces in certain areas, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The kids had a blast exploring the castle, and there are several spots where they can imagine themselves as knights or royalty. There are also small areas with interactive displays to keep younger visitors engaged. Conclusion Our visit to Malbork Castle was an unforgettable family experience. The combination of its stunning architecture, rich history, and family-friendly atmosphere made it a perfect destination for all ages. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for an adventure, Malbork Castle offers something for everyone. I highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Poland – it’s a real gem!
