O museu naval de Cartagena promove o conhecimento da história da Marinha espanhola, construção naval, ciências náuticas e suas ciências auxiliares (cosmografia, cartografia e instrumentos), a história das viagens e descobertas marítimas, arqueologia submarina e patrimônio marítimo imaterial.

O teatro romano, construído entre 5 e 1 aC, tinha capacidade para cerca de 7000 espectadores, e funcionou até ao século III, altura em que se sobrepuseram vários edifícios. Em 1988 foi exumado. Com capacidade para cerca de 7.000 espectadores, foi um dos maiores da Hispânia romana, escavado quase inteiramente na rocha. O Museu do Teatro Romano, projetado pelo arquiteto Rafael Moneo, leva os visitantes para dentro do monumento, transformando o Teatro Romano em seu último grande salão.
O Palácio Consistorial de Cartagena, também conhecido como Prefeitura de Cartagena, é um dos principais edifícios modernistas da cidade, construído entre 1900 e 1907. É um edifício triangular. A fachada é inteiramente de mármore branco, destacando-se na cobertura as cúpulas de zinco. Todo o exterior é repetidamente decorado com os emblemas da cidade: o castelo da Conceição do brasão da cidade, e a coroa mural, concedida pelo general romano Scipio Africanus quando tomou a cidade de Cartago Nova.

A cidade de Cartago Nova foi uma das mais esplêndidas do Império Romano. Desde os tempos republicanos, tinha um grande anfiteatro. O fórum romano de Cartago Nova localizava-se no centro da cidade, na confluência das estradas principais e entre as montanhas. O fórum estava localizado aproximadamente sob a atual praça de São Francisco e foi parcialmente escavado. Entre os principais monumentos do fórum que foram encontrados até agora estão: - Templo dedicado à tríade capitolina: Júpiter, Juno e Minerva. - O augusto. - A cúria, sede do governo da colônia. - Banhos e palestra do baixo período imperial. - O templo de Ísis.
Na Muralha Púnica você entrará em um dos episódios mais importantes da história do Mediterrâneo, as Guerras Púnicas entre os cartagineses e os romanos. Você aprenderá sobre o passado lendário de Qart Hadast, fundado pelo general Asdrúbal em 229 aC e seu local mais significativo, a muralha, um dos poucos restos cartagineses encontrados na Espanha. Além disso, junto à muralha, pode ver a cripta funerária da ermida de São José construída nos séculos XVI e XVII. Suas paredes oferecem um programa pictórico muito peculiar, as Danças da Morte.

We shared a wonderful afternoon with Noelia. She is a lovely young lady with good history and stories of Cartagena. The Roman Amphitheater is amazing. Lost under rubble and homes for 2000 years and found by chance. The facades of Cartagena are beautiful in the old city. We highly recommend this tour.

Noelia is the most wonderful guide! It felt like we were walking around Cartagena with a friend. Her personal stories as a native of the area brought the history to life. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know much about the Spanish Civil War before this trip, but she helped us understand it and its impact to Cartagena and so many other communities. Know if you’re visiting on a Monday that most museums and landmarks are closed, but Noelia was so knowledgeable that it didn’t matter! And she was able to get us into a museum which we had all to ourselves! What a treat, especially since it was raining outside, it gave us a chance to keep learning and dry off :-) She was even kind enough to take us to a place for authentic Asiatico (espresso with Licorice 43 among other tasty ingredients) and help us find a reputable retailer to get a few glasses with the recipe to take home. At the end of our tour she recommended some non-tourist local spots for lunch and she was spot on. We had the most amazing experience because of her expertise, kindness, and patience. I hope to come back in the future and get in contact with her again. People like Noelia make travel adventures joyful and easy :-) Don’t do Cartagena on your own, book with Noelia and see the city in a way that only someone local can unveil for you.
