Amazing experience! Oskar was fantastic and super knowledgeable! The forest is alive and it’s a must have experience in Monteverde. Although it was super rainy and windy we still enjoyed it. Saw a good variety of wildlife and amazing nature. Advice: if it’s rainy - take good waterprooof jackets and pants ^^
This was a fantastic tour. Our guide was super energetic and very knowledgeable. During the tour we saw just about everything you could dream of. Sloths, Toucans, White face capuchin monkeys, Spider monkeys, Agoutis, and a fer-de-lance!
Absolutely incredible experience with our guide Oscar. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the wildlife and made the whole tour engaging for both me and my family from start to finish. We saw an amazing range of animals and birds including bats, hummingbirds, quetzals, insects, and some incredibly unique rainforest species that we never would have spotted ourselves. Oscar’s ability to find hidden wildlife was honestly unbelievable, and he explained everything in a really interesting and easy-to-understand way.
We had a fantastic time with Oscar - he was by far the best guide we had whilst in Costa Rica. We did a private tour as a family and he was really great with our two children (4 and 8) - they were captivated the whole time. We saw so many incredible birds and animals, he has such a skill for spotting wildlife. He picked us up from our hotel promptly and dropped us back which was really helpful.
We had an amazing walk with our guide who was very knowledgeable and also you could tell he really cared about the preserve and nature in general. We were very lucky and saw a Quetzal pair and our guide was gushing how lucky we were and he was so excited it made the experience that much better. He has a very nice spotting scope and pointed out all sorts of different birds, frogs, spiders, and we even saw a bunch of white-faced monkeys. He took photos on his phone through the spotting scope and sent them all to us right after which was really nice!
Oscar seemed like a great guy and picked up several guests from their hotels and brought them to the Cloud Forest. The downside is that Wild doesn't use always use official park guides meaning they can't visit all the trails. The sub contracted guide had a terrific lens and enjoyed talking at the guests more than spotting wildlife. Perhaps you get smaller tour sizes than the official park guides but I think guests are missing out on seeing nesting Quetzals if they don't book directly with the Cloud Forest guided tours.
Oscar was the most amazing guide we could imagine. Very knowledgeable and kind. 10/10 recommendation. One of the best experiences we had in Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Luis was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a smaller group which allowed us to take more time with the telescope. We saw animals that we would not have spotted without him. He shared information about the plants, trees, insects, birds and animals in the cloud forest. He also gave us good recommendations outside of the cloud forest tour.
This was a wonderful way to visit the cloud forest! Oscar was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the local ecosystem and wildlife. After having done a night walk the previous evening, this one was a fun add-on as there was a whole other world stirring in the morning hours. We saw three of the elusive Quetzal, a group of bats inside a ficus tree, and a maw hummingbird feeding her two babies. One caution: I was fully aware that we needed to pay the park entry fee, but I had assumed we would just pay when we got there, and I did not receive any messages ahead of time with further instructions. I realized morning of that under “meeting location” it mentioned you had to buy tickets online for the 8:00am entry, but by that point it was sold out. We were able to purchase an entry time in person for 7:45 once we got there, but it added a moment of unnecessary stress if it had been a little more clear early on. So —- be sure to read the specifics under “meeting location” and/or reach out to the guide ahead of time to verify!
Oscar was professional and knowledgeable, and he was able to see many animals and plants. Lizard, some kind of Bards, Quetzal, Bat, White face monkey, etc. Oscar's Fieldscope is also great, allowing you to enjoy the tour while attaching your phone and watching it on your phone screen. You will also get the last photo video you took. (Most of the field scopes in other guides are peek-a-boo types) I went on this tour with my 3-year-old. Because we talk about the environment and the nature of the place, you can participate without difficulty while taking a break. It's no problem if you have a small child, I recommend it.
