Our guide, Akari, created a thoughtfully designed itinerary that balanced the city’s major highlights with stops tailored specifically to our interests. It never felt like a standard “checklist” tour—she listened to what we enjoyed and seamlessly added unique restaurants, local shops, and hidden spots along the way that we would have never discovered on our own. Akari is originally from Kyoto but has traveled extensively around the world, which made the experience even better. She had fantastic perspective on both the local culture and how visitors experience Japan. Her English was excellent, and she was genuinely fun to spend the day with—more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend than being on a formal tour. Communication leading up to the tour was smooth and easy. She was very responsive and helped us think through the day in advance. On the day of the tour, she met us directly at our hotel, which made everything effortless and allowed us to jump right into exploring. After the tour, she followed up with other recommendation links. Overall, it was one of the highlights of our time in Kyoto. If you’re looking for a flexible, engaging, and highly personalized way to experience the city, I can’t recommend this tour and Akari highly enough.
