A wonderful experience. Our guide Chantal was a jack of all trades. She did know about the stars above us, the small critters around us and how to make the best pictures with your camera or smart phone. She was so excited about the things she could show and teach us and we were all stunned about what she hat to show and explain. Hint: better wear some warm clothes!
We had a fantastic experience on our walk with Chantelle and Jan. Saw multiple Palmeto geckos, crickets, and a tiny scorpion up close. The desert was alive with activity - a Cape hare and gerbils. Our guides’ passion for the animals and ecosystem made for such a memorable evening.
Chantelle is the most amazing guide. So passionate about the desert and the creatures and incredibly knowledgeable. She made it a great experience and my respect for the littler desert creatures has grown enormously.
Exceptional experience that filled us with awe of the richness hidden in the desert at night, wonderfully led by Chantelle, who gave us a funny and easy glimse of her expert knowledge of the desert - we will be back for more!
A sublime experience. One of the most beautiful moments of our trip. A passionate guide who makes you live a BBC live documentary. And it will test the photo limit of your smartphone to take incredible shots.
The couple of hours I spent in the desert at night with Chantelle and Jan was a highlight of my trip to Namibia. The extraordinary lives of the little creatures in that barren landscape were incredible! Not only was bare-foot guide, Chantelle, extremely knowledgeable but her enthusiasm was contagious, and she took some wonderful photos for me on my phone. Don't miss this awesome experience!
We travel a lot and actively seek out meaningful, nature based experiences wherever we go. This night walk was truly exceptional and easily one of the most memorable activities we have done in Namibia. It was funny, informative, and deeply moving. Chantelle is extraordinary. Watching her guide us barefoot through the desert instantly showed her respect for the land and its fragile life. Her knowledge is vast, but what really sets her apart is her passion and empathy for even the smallest creatures and their habitat. That genuine care made a real emotional impact on us. This is not a staged or touristy experience. It is authentic, thoughtful, and rooted in deep understanding of the desert ecosystem. You leave not just having seen incredible wildlife, but with a new appreciation for how delicate and resilient this environment is. If you value responsible travel, learning, and experiences that stay with you long after they end, do not miss this. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Seeing the various critters at night under the UV light was genuinely amazing and the highlight of the tour. That part alone was fascinating and well worth experiencing. Unfortunately, the tour guide could seriously brush up on her social skills. She showed little care or consideration for the tourists, particularly regarding health and wellbeing, and did not allow time for questions or interaction. The experience itself was great, but the lack of engagement and basic courtesy from the guide took away from what could have been an excellent tour.
What a great and unique experience of exploring desert at night and seeing interesting creatures! Absolutely enjoyed it and also we get to see a whole moon rising which was incredible
Chantal has given us an exciting evening. She found a variety of animals at night, told us exciting stories about her survival strategies and touched us how cautious she is with the animals and the environment. Plus centuries-old artifacts, stones and stars. Important tip: Dress very warm, it gets very cold in the desert.
