This quick boat ride was so much fun. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Great for the young and old alike. It was casual and yet informative. It is a small boat and it is not over crowded. Definitely worth it, not too expensive. We only saw one puffin and it was hard to see, so don't get your hopes up!
Thank you for leaving us a 5 star review! It's certainly a perfect activity for all age groups, and we are delighted to hear that you noticed the smaller, less crowded feel. We keep our numbers below 12 to ensure this. Go Raibh Míle Maith Agat!
Great way to spend time off the usual tourist activities. Learned a lot about jewelry making. Made beautiful keepsakes with my daughters- very special!
Hi Jennifer! Sounds like a cool experience - not with us though! We hope you enjoyed your boat tour just as much.
Loved it beautiful weather and the crew were so informative, easy to locate and it took around 50 min, even saw a puffin
Wendy, Thank You! Our crew will be so happy with your review of your Irelands Eye Ferries experience. The puffins are magical (and about to leave us), so we are glad you got to spot one on board.
Local tour company is very disorganised . I was not allowed on the boat of my original booking. Sent to a different boat? Then thrown off that one (the orange boat beginning with”P”) by a very nasty man. I am 75 and use a cain.
Hi Mary, We are sorry to hear about the confusion. With 4 tour companies operating from the same pontoon there is sometimes mix ups, sounds like you were sent to the wrong boat by our competitors. We check in our customers at the top gate, ensuring they are sent to the right boats and preventing issues like this from occurring. We hope that you still enjoyed your tour with whoever provided it.
This was a fantastic experience! We loved being on a smaller boat (only 11 people were on it). We got to get up close to the cliffs and see lots of birds and also seals. The cliffs were incredible and the skipper told us interesting information about Ireland's Eye and the wildlife. Exactly as described!
Hi Anne, Thank you for the kind review. We are delighted to hear that you learnt a lot and enjoyed your Howth Coastal Boat Tour. We also love to hear your appreciation for the smaller group, smaller boat. Upclose and personal is what we hope for every time. Go raibh míle faith agat a cara.
Saw seals, puffins, and more.
Sounds like a perfect trip, thank you for sharing!
The captain was great! We learned do much. Great experience.. we would come back anytime. I recommend this trip to anyone
Thank you Darren! We are so lucky to have such a great team, reviews like this fill us with confidence. Come again for sure, we would love to have you.
Really lovely tour of the island and the exciting ocean birds & seals. Great afternoon getaway from the city.
Thank you Andrea! The island is magical at this time of year with all the nesting Atlantic birds, although we expect them to leave us soon! We are so glad you enjoyed your escape from the busy city, Howth is in Dublin - but definitely feels like another world.
I really enjoyed this boat trip. The guided trip was very informative. A variety of music was played during the trip that tied in with the history told. This created a great atmosphere. Ireland's eye looked amazing. We saw a huge number of pelicans and gannets. We also got to see a number of seals too. A very enjoyable memorable trip. The sun was shining which was a bonus. Highly recommend.
Thank you Niamh! The Irish music really helps to set the tone. Gannets are incredible to see up close, one of our favourite species to watch! Sounds like the perfect weather too.
It was a nice boat ride in Howth, but if you are traveling to other places in Ireland, a hike in Howth would be equally as lovely. There were only a few people on the boat, which was nice, but it can get quite windy and a little hard to hear at times. We only saw one puffin from a distance. I would recommend it if you're only going to Dublin for a short trip and want some nature.
Thank you for your feedback! The puffins, like all nature sightings, are not guaranteed. Sometimes they are all out, but other times they are hidden in their burrows - magical nonetheless. By taking a guided tour, you are supporting regenerative tourism in the area, which is set up to preserve and protect this unique coastline and its surrounding waters.
