Dashaswamedh Ghat: - Dashashwamedh ghat é um dos ghat mais antigos, espetaculares e importantes, localizado na margem do rio Gange, perto do antigo Templo Vishwanath em Kashi. O significado literal do Dashashwamedh é o Ghat (frente do rio) dos dez cavalos sacrificados (traço significa 10, ashwa significa cavalo, medh significa sacrifício). Existem duas mitologias sobre o ghat: o Senhor Brahma foi criado como Dashashwamedh ghat para receber o Senhor Shiva, e a segunda é que o Senhor Brahma sacrificou os dez cavalos em um yajna aqui. Este ghat é famoso pelo Agni Pooja, que é realizado aqui diariamente à noite por um grupo de sacerdotes que são dedicados ao Senhor Shiva, ao Rio Ganges, Surya, Agni, bem como a todo o universo.
Construído sob as direções do Peshwa Amritrao de Pune em 1807, RajaGhat foi descrito como Amritrao Ghat por James Prinsep em 1831 e Grimes em 1909. Espalhados em uma área enorme, o sul de Ghat tem Annapurna Math e a parte norte tem uma fortaleza.
Harish Chandra ghat é um dos dois ghats de cremação e também é conhecido como Adi Manikarnika, que significa o local de criação original. É muito menor que Manikarnika, que é um ghat mais significativo para cremação. No entanto, os hindus vêm de lugares distantes para este ghat para ter seus mortos cremados aqui, pois muitos acreditam que obteriam moksha (salvação). Este é um dos ghats mais antigos da cidade sagrada de Varanasi e recebeu o nome do rei mitológico Harish Chandra. Diz-se que o rei certa vez trabalhou neste ghat pela perseverança da verdade e da caridade. É sabido que no início este ghat era uma das principais peregrinações de Vishnu e Manikarnika Kund situado no ghat era conhecido como Chakrapushkarni. Segundo a crença, quando Shiva Parvati estava observando o lago, a joia da orelha de Parvati caiu em Chakrapushkarni. Foi nomeado Manikarnika por causa da queda da joia da orelha de Parvati. Atualmente, este ghat de Kashi é famoso tanto por peregrinação quanto por local de cremação. Este ghat tem especial importância do ponto de vista das atividades religioso-culturais e dos banhistas. Há uma importância especial de tomar banho aqui nos festivais do eclipse solar-lunar, Prabodhini e Nirjala Ekadashi, Makar e Aries Sankranti, Ganga Dussehra, Teej, Kajri, Chhath, Bhaiya Dooj etc.

An unforgettable sunrise experience on the Ganges in Varanasi. Seeing the city awaken from the water as the first light touched the ghats was absolutely beautiful and gave a unique perspective of this ancient and spiritual place. Badal was fantastic throughout the tour—warm, professional, and full of knowledge. He shared many interesting stories and historical insights about Varanasi, explaining traditions and landmarks in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. Beautiful morning boat ride with the sun rising. Our tour guide, Akash, explained much of the Indian culture and was kind enough to get off the boat to explain the crematorium ghats to us in great detail. Great tour!

Excellent boat tour where we saw the best of Varanasi from the Ganges. Badal is a very knowledgeable and entertaining local guide with fluent English. We highly recommend taking this tour. Badal and Akash are excellent communicators and are very organised, and we learnt so much from them. All of this against the dawn backdrop of the Ganges. Unforgettable. We'd do this tour again.
