The experience was subpar, but the attraction itself was worth seeing.
Make sure you bring peptobistmol, the drive is more than a little rough. The driver was speeding the whole time and slams on the breaks at every speed bump, he was speeding around all other cars on the road and a few times we were going head on with semis just so he could pass a car. They were very unorganized, the night before the tour we were getting messages from multiple numbers about our pick up. The guide was rude and when we finally arrived at rainbow mountain they only gave us 20 min to view the site. Our family was the only ones who wanted to see red valley, they sent us with a spanish only member of their team and though he didnt speak any English he was a much better guide. They made it seem like we would freeze on the mountains when we had stopped at there breakfast area, just to get us to buy warm weather gear we didn't need. The mountain wasn't cold at all. They advertised air conditioning yet we baked in the heat in the crowded van all the way back to the city. If you don't mind a waisted day go for it, however if you want to enjoy your time just try to find a place to stay near the site to get more out of your time.

Regarding the time spent at Rainbow Mountain, our schedule is designed to coordinate with weather conditions, road access, and the return logistics for all participants. However, we understand that some travelers would prefer additional time, especially those interested in visiting Red Valley, and we appreciate your suggestion. We are pleased to hear that despite the language barrier, the local team member who accompanied your family to Red Valley helped make that part of your experience more enjoyable.
As for our recommendations about warm clothing, these are given based on the highly unpredictable weather conditions in the Andes, where temperatures can change rapidly throughout the day. We certainly do not intend to pressure guests into purchasing items they do not need, and we apologize if it came across that way.
Lastly, we regret that the vehicle's air conditioning did not provide the level of comfort you expected during the return journey. We will inspect our vehicles to ensure all amenities are functioning properly.

Great way to see Rainbow Mountain
Well-organized tour and great way to see Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley! We had a good and attentive guide, Avel. We were picked up at our hotel at 3am, so it was super early, but riding the ATVs was a lot of fun and a nice change of pace after hiking for several days. We drove the ATVs to the furthest point we could but still had to walk up to the top of Rainbow Mountain. It wasn’t a long walk but it is challenging with the altitude. The Ausangate glacier is right there too and it was amazing to see. Overall, good tour and would recommend!
