O hipogeu Materasum, também conhecido como Matera Sotterranea, é um complexo escavado na rocha tufo. Este sítio pode ser descrito como uma “cidade sob a cidade”. Realmente impressionante!
O Palazzo dell’Annunziata de Matera, localizado na Piazza Vittorio Veneto, é o edifício que atualmente abriga a Biblioteca Provincial “Tommaso Stigliani”.
Um “palombaro” é uma estrutura subterrânea projetada para coletar e armazenar água. O “Palombaro Lungo” em Matera está localizado sob a Piazza Vittorio Veneto e foi construído em várias fases a partir do século XVI.
Quando falamos de Sassi, estamos nos referindo à parte histórica de Matera, dividida em três áreas principais: o Sasso Barisano ao noroeste, o Sasso Caveoso ao sul e a Civita no centro que os separa.
A Catedral de Maria Santissima della Bruna e Sant’Eustachio, também conhecida como Duomo de Matera, foi concluída em 1270 e fica na Civita, o ponto mais alto da cidade onde o primeiro assentamento dos Sassi se originou. Esta área era anteriormente o lar de um mosteiro beneditino dedicado a Sant’Eustachio, consagrado em 1082.
A Casa Noha está localizada no distrito de Civita, uma rocha natural que separa os distritos de Sasso Caveoso e Sasso Barisano. Este edifício, que remonta aos séculos XVI e XVII, já foi a casa da nobre família de Noha.
Localizada no meio do Sasso Caveoso, mais precisamente no promontório rochoso de Monterrone, foi parcialmente escavada na rocha e parcialmente construída após o colapso da abóbada ocorrido antes do século XVI.
Esta igreja está localizada no coração do Sassi, bem no Sasso Caveoso. Na fachada barroca há três nichos, dentro dos quais há as estátuas de São Paulo à direita, São Pedro à esquerda e no centro a Madonna della Misericordia.
A Igreja do Purgatório foi construída em estilo barroco e é dedicada aos falecidos e aborda o tema da morte e da redenção das almas.

It was not practical for me. I prefer a guide in person
I had high hopes for this as we’ve used other walking tours with audio guides before. It quickly turned into a disappointment when the first point on the tour was literally a doorway where he could walk in and pay more money to see caves. After that it became more and more difficult to find our way because it uses Google maps, which may or may not be loading properly. The better products I’ve used integrate the GPS directions into the app, but instead, this one uses a webpage and it all looks the same. Each step of the way you can get lost in the labyrinth of Matera small roads. Too easy to take a wrong turn and lose the direction. Another serious failing in my opinion is that it’s very much like an academic lecture without many interesting facts or any sense of humour. Maybe I miss some of the interesting detail, but we gave up halfway through it because it was too frustrating, hard to see in the sun, and we spent most of our time looking at our phone trying to find out where we were instead of the incredible sites. I ended up just finding our way to different locations and googling the history.
Ciao! The first stop on the tour is an attraction, and as specified in the description and product details, you'll need to pay an entrance fee if you want to visit it😌. We use Google Maps for navigation because we believe it's the simplest and most reliable system. Unfortunately, we're not responsible for the fact that beautiful Matera looks like a labyrinth (which is easily navigable with Google Maps 😉), nor for the sun 😅 I hope this answer helps other travelers! The best! History, guide, sights - incredible!
Superficial info for sites; fell short of potential. Mapping was difficult to follow despite cross referencing with google maps as instructed. Get a live guide and experience Matera.

Absolutely rubbish it was a scam. There was no one to meet. There was no instructions on how to listen to the tour. I have reported this to my bank.

Therefore, you won't meet a physical guide in person, but you can explore Matera at your own pace and at your own pace 😌. We sent you a message and an email shortly after booking (which were ignored), and you didn't even contact us to ask for assistance or how to use the digital guide; you simply decided to leave a negative review 😒. very practical audio guide for those who want to visit without constraints. The explanations are succinct but sufficient. The breakpoints are guided by Google Maps and arrive at the site, audio is launched or explanations are read. This makes it possible not to miss anything We made a first tour of the city in open access, and a second tour with audio guide , and it is still more interesting being guided. (It is better to provide a backup battery for the phone) Good experience at a more than reasonable price I advise him and will use this type of guide for the rest of my trip.
