It was incredible I chose two hours on the Almaty mountains with a beautiful horse named iceberg, the staff was incredible, dutiful, professional and very helpful, definitely recommend it as an experience

The horse ride in the beautiful winter was absolutely breathtaking. The crisp air, snow-dusted trails, and serene atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. Riding through such a magical landscape felt peaceful and exhilarating—a perfect winter adventure.

First thing you should know is that businesses in Kazakhstan operate by WhatsApp so messaging vendor through Viator (or even through Viator customer service) will get you nowhere. Second tourist pleasure rides are (according to my guide, who was earnest but not effective) a new thing so you may end up at a 2-bit operation like Kazakh Riders which was the most depressing ride I’ve ever been on. I tried to keep my American in check but it was a ghetto op with poorly treated horses. And a dangerous ride since my English speaking guide did not go with me and the non-English speaking trail leader. And it wasn’t a trail, just a sad plod through some meadows. I did not trust the trail leader (some kid in ripped shorts who kept jerking his horse’s mouth and whipping it) or my mount to go faster. Third bring your own water because none was provided or available. The Kazia guide was nice enough but made all kinds of incorrect assumptions which resulted in a huge waste of my time and money. I’m just glad I didn’t get injured. Apparently there are other horse operations that they use so if you actually want a trail ride and not just to gallop across a field on a badly used horse, be sure to request that.

While we do respond through Viator, WhatsApp is indeed faster for communication, and we’re always happy to send photos, videos, and more information that way. Additionally, your friend contacted us by phone, and we assumed that this was the preferred method of communication for you as well, especially since WhatsApp isn’t available in China. We reached out two days before the tour, and you asked about the weather, to which we provided clothing recommendations. We regret that the ride didn’t meet your standards and appreciate your feedback. We’ll make sure to reconsider using this location for future rides, as we’ve previously taken tourists there with very positive feedback, especially from experienced riders who’ve enjoyed multiple tours with us. It’s worth noting that horse handling styles differ from country to country, and Kazakhstan has a rich tradition of horseback games and more direct commands to control the horses. Please don't judge the horse-handling practices of the entire country based on just one tour. This was a mistake on our part, and we deeply regret it. If we had received your feedback earlier, we would have gladly offered you another horseback tour on the following day, free of charge or made a refund.
