We have just rounded up our 5 N/ 6 D Kashmir circuit with DripinKashmir tour Agency. The Agency has planned it out reasonably well from Jammu pickup to Jammu railway station drop on return. They have assigned us a great cab driver, Sahil Bhat who was soft spoken, helpful and he took us to most of the locations and sightseeing points as per the package. Except for the nagging tip culture that seems to be pervasive in Kashmir tours, and the unregulated charges for the union cab and allied services at Pahalgam, Sonemarg and Gulmarg things have been generally fine. Pros: Great cab services for pickup and drop from Jammu. Hotels as per the star category chosen. Covered most of the sightseeing points as declared in the package. Cons: Total lack of information until last moment about non availability of other Indian mobile prepaid service network in J&K. Postpaid connections however work seamlessly. Your usual prepaid mobile network from other states will not work in J&K. You need to take an exclusive prepaid J&K SIM with data (₹300) on arrival at Jammu or Srinagar. It will be a spot activation using your Adhar and biometrics . As G-Pay , Paytm and Phonepe are ubiquitous payment systems across the country you are dead stuck without this facility . Luckily there is a workaround if you happen to keep another spare mobile phone. You may put the newly activated J&K SIM in the spare phone and turn on the portable hotspot on phone in which the new SIM has been activated and your G-Pay is good to go.
