You kayak from the shore to La Jolla Cove, one cave. The lifeguard takes you in and then you come out, and you sit there and paddle for an hour. Then you paddle back to the shore. I do not recommend this, it is not worth the price. There is a $45 for two people, kayaking trip that you can go on around the same area. At least with that, I think you could paddle around. We did have multiple people fall off the kayak, which may have lead to them shortening the trip. But nobody said a word, therefore we went back and ended the trip. I paid a lot of money for my family to sit in front of the cave for an hour! That was the majority of the trip. I was very disappointed! The lifeguard and the company were very professional! Offered exceptional customer service. The only problem we had was one of the kayaks had a hole in it and was sinking just as we got to the cave. After that, there were other kayaks that flipped over, I believe it was just because we were sitting outside of the cave hovering around.
Absolutely the most unique and adventurous part of our trip! Had an amazing time and Robbie was a great guide!
What a fun experience with a great company. They make it very easy. Upon arrival they get you the gear, and you walk a few blocks to the beach. They give you a safety briefing and you are on your way. Guide was awesome, super knowledgeable and fun. Saw plenty of wild life, went in and out of the caves and learned about the area.

We had an amazing ocean kayaking experience thanks to Garrett and Molly! They were both incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable from start to finish. Their passion for the ocean and marine life really showed, and they shared interesting facts throughout the tour that made the experience even more memorable. They kept the group engaged, made the trip fun with their great personalities, and ensured everyone felt confident on the water. We saw beautiful scenery and wildlife, and it was an unforgettable adventure. If you’re looking for a fun, safe, and informative kayaking tour, I highly recommend Garrett and Molly. They truly made this experience one we’ll never forget!
My husband booked the La Jolla seacave kayak tour for July. We had a great time overall. Staff were friendly. Trevor and Aaron were our tour guides and they did an excellent job. Both were knowledgeable about the area. Confident in their kayaking skills and kept us in check if we went off-grid. The meeting place has plenty of space , they have changing rooms and lockers to keep things safe. Very laid back but professional. We would recommend to friends.

I was fun and the guides were so knowledgeable. First time to kayak in the ocean, great fun. Duke & Dash, our guides were the best.
The waves were too high for kayaking in my opinion. The waves flipped our boat over. In fact, that happened to others too. The good part of this review is that the crew was great. When we flipped a crew member rushed over to get the boat off of me as I was stuck underneath and could not get out because the waves kept hitting us.
Horrible company…called to book a few hours before and they didn’t disclose that no tours have been able to see the caves (in almost 2 weeks) and that the lifeguards closed the caves all day. Almost $600 wasted to kayak up and down the ocean which our resort offers for free. No discount or reimbursement and didn’t even tell us until we were out in the ocean I. Front of the cave. They could care less about taking advantage of people.
Lisa, Your account is simply inaccurate. We had tours inside the caves a few days prior as well as a few days after your scheduled tour. Unfortunately, during your visit, there was a tropical hurricane offshore that was constantly changing direction and intensity. Because conditions change hour to hour, we work closely with the lifeguards and communicate all throughout the day. The safety of cave entrance is determined when we are physically in front of the caves, not before. We promise if it looks safe, we confirm with the lifeguards and paddle inside. We also promise if looks dangerous, we will NEVER risk the safety of our customers. This is part of exploring Mother Nature, especially in dynamic ecosystems like La Jolla Cove. Thank you for your review. We hope you can find another time to enter the caves on a calmer day. If you are interested in booking another adventure, please reach out to josh@everydaycalifornia.com directly so I can check weather forecasts and help you align an ideal time for more predictable cave access. Best, Josh
The cruise guides were great but just be aware of the up charges. $6.00 for a locker and a $19.00 fee that they tell you about when you check in. The tour guides were fabulous and still great experience. It was choppy and didn’t see the caves but learned a lot about the seaside.
My son and I are not experienced kayakers or especially adventurous people, and we had a great time! Our guides were very kind and helpful, and shared interesting information about the area and sea life. A fun activity for those who are not super confident to go out kayaking on their own. Arrive really early to not stress about parking! Also assume you will get wet and don't bring anything you don't want to get in the ocean (I fell in twice, no big deal).
