Nosso simpático motorista-guia fala em seu hotel em Florença para começar seu dia indo para o PISA, uma cidade calma e agradável que relembra o passado da república de Pisa. O sistema fluvial em Pisa impediu que ele diminuísse no final do Império Romano. Vamos nos concentrar na Piazza dei Miracoli (Praça dos Milagres), um Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO. O Duomo é uma catedral medieval com enormes portas de bronze e seu teto dourado, seu púlpito medieval e seu interior de mármore preto e branco são de tirar o fôlego… O prédio redondo em forma de círculo é o batistério, com uma fonte octogonal que contrasta e um grande espaço interior redondo . A Torre Inclinada foi o campanário (torre sineira da catedral) que começou a se inclinar logo após sua conclusão em 1173.
Após uma parada de cerca de 1 hora, sairemos para SAN GIMIGNANO. A cidade foi fundada como uma pequena vila no século III aC pelos etruscos e é famosa hoje por seu vinho (Vernaccia) e arquitetura. San Gimignano é muitas vezes referida como "a cidade das torres", já que a cidade foi capaz de preservar 14 torres dos tempos medievais ... verdadeiramente um set de filmagem! Agora é hora de seguir para a SIENA, mas no caminho queremos incluir uma rápida parada no MONTERIGGIONI, um dos assentamentos mais conhecidos e clássicos da Toscana. Esta aldeia foi construída em uma colina pelo Sienese entre 1213 e 1219 para ignorar a antiga estrada romana, a Via Cassia
O centro histórico de Siena foi declarado Patrimônio da Humanidade pela UNESCO. Seu horizonte elevado é o seu orgulho, dominado pela catedral gótica (Duomo) e a agulha tensa da Torre del Mangia e ainda a concha em forma de Piazza del Campo, provavelmente captura a maior atenção e fama. Foi visto em filmes, fotografias e campanhas publicitárias. Os tijolos cobrem a terra suavemente inclinada por baixo e são testemunhas de muitos eventos na história, mas o mais intrigante é a corrida de cavalos “Palio”, uma das coisas mais importantes na vida de um nativo de Siena. Na praça de 2 de julho e 16 de agosto há uma corrida de cavalos em pêlo que foi registrada pela primeira vez em 1283, mas pode ter tido suas origens no treinamento militar romano.Não se deve perder o Palazzo Pubblico (prefeitura), que é um grande trabalho de arquitetura e casas também um importante museu de Siena.
No caminho de volta a Florença, você terá a oportunidade de visitar parte da charmosa CHIANTI AREA, caracterizada por colinas onduladas pontilhadas por vinhedos, ciprestes, oliveiras e pequenas cidades. Visite Panzano e Greve, duas das mais belas cidades de Chianti - se o tempo permitir também é possível parar em uma vinícola para provar vinhos excelentes e azeite extra virgem. Retorno a Florença à tarde com barrigas cheias, um coração feliz e ótimas lembranças …

This was an amazing experience to be able to see other parts of Tuscany and get a break from the 15 000 steps a day. Being that it was private, we were able to customize the trip being that my wife's pregnant. He drove us everywhere we needed to go to make things easy as well as made great recommendations of must see places and Gelato stands.

We enjoyed our day in Tuscany. Alex, our driver, was on time, friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience to our liking. We went first to the Michelangelo plaza, across the river, where we had not been yet for a great view of Florence. We chose not to go to Pisa, for more time in the Chianti area and wine tasting. We drove to Monteriggiani, a small walled town, which had a recent restoration. Throughout the day, all buildings were a way to feel how itight have been in medieval times. Then was Siena, with its massive, unfinished, cathedral, and the unique shell shaped plaza. We went wine tasting and lunch at Corbacci, an exclusive experience, as we get to pair wine with meal. Our host Agnes guided us through the tasting and with a passion for wine. The scenery of this place is all we have in mind when we think Tuscany. Lunch was great, no surprise. We left and headed.to St Gminiano, another well preserved medieval town, though with a different flare. Alex drove thru the countryside for more spectacular views. Then back to Florence, already planning our next visit.

We splurged on a private car for our day trip from Florence to see the highlights of Tuscany. Massimo picked us up at our hotel and provided the perfect combination of structured and free time to explore Siena and other gems. Definitely worth the extra cost to have a car and driver to ourselves.

Alex was phenomenal! He picked us up and took us to 3 medieval towns and 2 wineries. His knowledge of the area was quite extensive! He was really kind, patient and had the best recommendations both along our route and in Florence. We sincerely enjoyed our day with him and would book with him again if we had more time!
