Esta é uma viagem ao centro da Ilha da Madeira, onde montanhas extraordinárias, com cumes cobertos pelas nuvens, descem aos vales verdejantes do modo mais espectacular. A nossa excursão tem início com a visita ao Miradouro do Pico dos Barcelos (deste local é possível contemplar uma vista panorâmica sobre a baía e a cidade do Funchal). De seguida, rumamos à Eira do Serrado, miradouro situado a 1094 metros de altitude sobre a freguesia do Curral das Freiras. Depois rumamos à pequena vila do Curral das Freiras. O enorme caldeirão em que o Curral das Freiras está situado, foi formado pela erosão, que é a teoria mais recente, ou, como muitos ainda acreditam, pela actividade vulcânica. A vila está muito isolada e os habitantes vivem principalmente do que cultivam. As castanhas locais são deliciosas e são utilizadas na culinária diária. Todos os anos, os habitantes celebram a ‘Festa da Castanha’, pela qual a vila é famosa.

Curral das Freiras, Nuns Valley, a trip into the center of the island takes us down into the Valley of the Nuns; Curral das Freiras which is mystically overshadowed by beautiful mountains with peaks covered by the layers of white clouds.
The Eira do Serrado Viewpoint is not only fantastic for its magnificent view but also by the tranquility and the almost untouched and wild nature. Here you can see the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras.
Miradouro do Pico dos Barcelos. A famous viewpoint, with a magnificent view of Funchal, heading to one of the most beautiful viewpoints.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PICK-UPS AND TRANSPORT Please note that pick-ups are available within Funchal city centre and the main tourist hotel area. Some areas, including pedestrian zones, historic streets in Funchal, and locations with restricted access for the type of transport we use, may not be suitable for direct pick-up. If your accommodation is located outside our pick-up area or in a restricted-access zone, please provide us with your full accommodation address so that we can direct you to the nearest available meeting point in Funchal. Our activities are usually operated in groups of around 16 participants. However, during peak seasons, the type of transport may be adjusted and the number of participants per group may increase, depending on availability and logistical requirements.

Very enjoyable and informative visit to a beautiful part of Madeira. the small group size (8 of us in total) was just right, and we had ample time for stops to explore. Our guide, Jose, was friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating, even dropping us back to a more convenient spot at the end.

Really enjoyed this trip with Sergio. He made the tour fun and informative. Nun’s valley was stunning and Sergio understood the cloud & weather to determine timings to make the most of the viewpoints. Highly recommend.

The trip was entertaining. We had good luck with the weather and thus a breathtaking view of the Nonnental. The tour group was not too big, our driver and guide Sergio very entertaining!

Fab little tour of a gorgeous part of the island. Worth it for the views at the first stop alone. We also stopped at a lovely little cafe at the second stop and indulged in some chestnut treats, including cake and liqueur. Our guide was very friendly and informative. All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon.

Very beautiful views up high. The drive up was scenic with lots of nature and woodlands. Plenty of time to walk or have a coffee at the places we stopped at. Take warm clothes!! I did the tour with Feeling Madeira and they were fantastic!

Very informative guide who drove very safely and interesting stops along the way. Can be cold in the hills but we were there at the start of Storm Regina so maybe not typical.

Beautiful visit to Nuns valley, this tour was great and showed a very calm part of the island away from Funchal, our guide was great and looked after us all, unfortunately two of the people who where on the tour where very late to meet us but our guide didn't hurry us at any of the viewpoints we went to so we could fully enjoy our tour, I apologise as I cannot remember my guides name but he was a fab driver and looked after us well ensuring we knew what we could see in each place we visited.
