Unique experience. Got to meet the sled dogs. Guides stopped halfway thru the dog sledding to take pictures for us. Dinner was ok. Dessert was great. Small group @16 people. Pickup was @8pm and drop-off @3:30am. After dinner we waited in the warm yurt for the aurora to appear. The lights gave us a wonderful show.
This was the highlight of my trip. Paul our guide and Ash who ran the dog sled were both Awesome. The owner and his wife cooked and served a great salmon dinner for us. The Aurora this night 3/21/26 was SPECTACULAR dancing in the sky and showing us Beautiful colors. l feel Blessed to have witnessed GOD’S Beautiful Creation. A night l will never forget!! Thank you Paul for the pictures and video you sent me.
Due to issues with our flight, my friend and I were late getting into Fairbanks and very concerned as to whether we would be able to make this tour. Josh and Chelsea assured us that we would be fine and that we were! Daniel was a friendly and professional tour guide who made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Our Musher, Ash, was very experienced and made sure we had time to interact with the dogs before our ride, which was a highlight for me. Our dogsled ride was also our introduction to the northern lights and what a breathtaking way to see them. Our dinner was prepared right in the yurt which was kept comfortably warm, a necessity for this Floridian not used to seeing minus signs before the temperature! The food was delicious and we had plenty of time to take in more of the northern lights afterwards. I would highly recommend this tour.
Went to Fairbanks primarily for 2 tours . Ice fishing and the Aurora Dog sledding experience . A bit more challenging as I was flying in Solo and they mostly required at least 2. Fortunately a spot opened . Pickup was promptly made at 8:15pm in a nice warm bus . Did I mention it was -16*..? 3 more stops and then the 30 minute ride to the site . Our meeting place was one of the Yurt’s on the property adjacent to the dogs. Introductions made and then walked over to the dog holding area. Had a chance to walk around , pet, hug ,take pictures of the dogs. So beautiful, energetic and lovable animals . They loved the attention, loved to be pet. . After about 10 minutes or so ready for the sledding . I was in Group 2 ..along with 2 Asian ladies in front. Me was in back in front of the driver . Joked with him saying I was the ballast, we both laughed . Then off we went. At least a 20 minute ride , not just around in a circle . Quite a few turns . Stopped twice so the driver could get out and take photos of us in the sled . Really needed to hold on more difficult if you wanted a pix or video. Too soon ( of course ) the ride ended , we got out back to Yurt for the next group. By this time the ladies was preparing dinner . While waiting they had hot coffee and tea, Hot Chocolate as well. By the time the second group came back dinner was served , and a delicious one it was ..the main course was grilled salmon , Asparagus, with wild rice. Absolutely delicious . My phone battery was crashing but the ladies graciously lent me her charger cable and during dinner recharged hoping to see Lady Aurora. The evening started overcast, but after the dog sled ride the Aurora came out full view. Spectacular sight. Even though it was freezing , kept going i. And out of the yurt to snap away. Our guide , Daniel, stayed outside to take pictures of the guests with Lady Aurora in the background with our cameras resetting making the pix amazing. Then sadly it was time to go. Warmed up the truck , was about 2:30am now -20 * back to the hotel. In short the tour was amazing, many thanks to 1st Alaska Tours . The guides Rob, who I went earlier Ice fishing A dog musher who took the dogs around the track , and Daniel our guide here and resident photographer who helped us set our cameras and took pictures of us with Aurora in the background. Both excellent guides . Would I go again?? Most definitely, even if Ms Aurora didn’t show her beautiful face . It was a first class tour with two great guides Rides. Thanks guys Rob and Daniel two great guides . And a thanks to Chelsea for her help Of course Bear, Rob’s dog and companion
This tour was recommended to us by our hotel. From the minute we were picked up by Daniel to the minute we were dropped off it was above and beyond. Daniel was so informative and kind. The dog sledding was fun especially because we saw the aurora while on the sled. Ash grabbed pictures and video for us so our hands could stay warm in the below zero temps. The salmon dinner Emma prepared was delicious in the yurt. The compost bathroom was clean. We learned so much and the aurora came out for us in full force. Even if it didn’t, the dog sledding and dinner was worth it. Highly recommend our tour and this company is top notch! Ask for Daniel!
It honestly surpassed my expectations, not only because we were lucky enough to see the aurora while sledding and after, but because the guides really appreciate the visitors and they love the dogs and what they do. Daniel was a sweetheart and the rest of the team was great and everyone took excellent care of us. The lead musher seems like a fascinating guy and it would be great to know more about him. And the dogs, of course, are amazing little beings who can't wait to run on the trail. Lovely cook and dinner! Great place, good people, and very special pups. Thank you!
Awesome experience ! My sister injured her ankle before the tour and the tour guide Daniel was able to carry her in and out the vehicle so she can still enjoy seeing the Aurora and the delicious Alaska salmon dinner. All the staff are very professional and friendly !
This was our favorite tour in Alaska (we went on 4). We went in February 2026. The mushers were very knowledgeable and kind. The dogs were awesome, we got to pet them. The sled was very comfortable. The dinner was nice. It was a great location to see the Aurora Borealis as well! Bring a tripod to take better pictures. The staff was excellent! Highly recommend!
this tour was fantastic!! we got to learn about some of the mushers and met some of the doggies that take part in the dog sledding! paul was the best tour guide ever, making sure we were staying warm, taking pictures for us, and looking out into the night sky and letting us know when the aurora was out. paul was very knowledgable and friendly and really knows his stuff about the aurora which we appreciated. our cook, i believe emma? was super nice and cooked a very delicious homecooked meal and our mushers were very great as well. recommend to layer up ALOTTTT because the nighttime dog mushing was very fun but also very cold… brrr
Tanner Ash & Emma were the best!! Saw the northern lights, food was amazing & dog sledding so fun. 100% recommend doing this tour on your trip
