We had a lovely evening here a couple of weeks ago. Arrived to be greeted by the son of the family who was very polite and explained what we were going to do. The two very friendly German shepherds also greeted us, although they look a bit daunting due to their size they were so playful and friendly and our 8 year old loved them! We got to see all the other animals there and our daughter wanted to take one of the cats home! The evening started with some relaxing time around the site, followed by delicious home made food. We had a chill out around the campfire with toasted marshmallows while our hosts got everything ready! We were split into Spanish and English speaking groups to receive on educational talk on telescopes and how they’ve evolved. And then onto looking at the stars! We got to see Saturn with its rings first of all and lots of other amazing stuff. If you’re expecting this to be a sterile NASA type environment this isn’t for you, but it was clear from the website and reviews from people who have taken their time to do their research that this is a rural finca setting and it is run by a lovely family who really know their stuff and are trying to share this with others! We had an amazing night and my daughter even said it was the best night ever. Thank you!
This activity had been contracted several weeks in advance. When we arrived at the site, there were animals loose (two large German shepherds and two cats), both having allergies to these animals. These animals entered and left the accommodation where we were going to sleep, there were hairs on the sheets (we attached photos). And this information does not appear on the web. Plus it's not anything hygienic. The situation triggered fear and anxiety. On the website there are images and drawings of the installations that do not correspond with the reality of the place. Faced with this situation, we refuse to stay there, we try to reach an agreement with the person responsible for returning the money to us, after explaining our reasons, who refused and did not gave us no solution, so we set out to ask for a claim sheet and had to abandon The place. On the way to another destination (we were 175 km from home), we both had allergies due to the conditions, in addition to the state of frustration, understanding this experience as a fraud. In addition to paying 238 euros to Astronomy Tours, we had to look for a hotel where we could stay. night, which cost us 86 euros.
What a fantastic evening!. The hosts are lovely people. The food was amazing and the setting is stunning especially after dark. We were taken through how telescopes work to seeing a range of celestial objects across the night sky. Thank you!
I joined with my partner and our little dog Lili. It was Cozy environment with great food and knowledgeable guides. Highly recommended
It was a magical night with super delivered and passionate guides ❤️ The final gift to see saturno was a wonder ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Finca Astronomica is not too far off the tarred road in San Isidro, high up above Cartagena. The lovely family that run it are very knowledgeable and passionate about the stars. They can speak English and Spanish expertly as well as their native Polish. We had a great time there with our little ex street dog. We slept overnight in a comfortable pod. I am not a big camping fan but it was fine. Not one mosquito bothered us. There is a bijou, scrupulously clean and well equipped flushing toilet. (No camping toilets for me) During the two hours after sunset, waiting for the sky to darken, there are plenty of things to keep you and your family entertained (although we were on an adults only evening). There's a pool table and another pub game. There are also loads of birds and animals to pet: rabbits,a goat, friendly farm cats, and the dogs; Orion & Sirus. Plus loads of ducks, quails and a peacock. Aleksandra also provided a sumptuous homecooked evening meal, with every dietary need catered for. After that, there were marshmallows for toasting on the campfire. But the highlight, of course was the stargazing. They set up numerous telescopes and we were educated on the history of star gazing from Galileo to the present day. We got to see some amazing stars. For me the most amazing was the red star in the heart of the Scorpio constellation which is appears actually as ring of stars like a star burst. We also saw a ring nebula of stars, a double star and 3 galaxies, and asupernova using the latest technology. We will definitely go again during the perseoid showers and later in the year when the Milky Way is visible behind Scorpios tail. Truly an inspirational visit. It makes you feel incredibly small, but also uplifted to know that we are all made of stardust. I thoroughly recommend a visit to Finca Astronomica, you won't find anything this special in a month of Sundays.
Had the most lovely time. The hosts were so so welcoming the atmosphere was great. The food provided was beautiful and so fresh! Both of them so full of so much knowledge and passion. Really relaxed night and could not recommend enough.
Astronomical experience and total immersion in rural life during the hours of the plan. It exceeded our expectations in this farm where you breathe pure simplicity and magic. We enjoyed a long time of hospitality, knowledge of heaven and memories that my family and I will not forget. Thank you. We'll be back!! 100% recommended
We had booked a glamping pod and evening stargazing. We arrived at 4pm to check-in but was told to come back when gate opens at 7 pm. We had been travelling for all day and wanted to go to our ‘room’ to relax before the evening event. Normally it is possible to checkin to a place after 3pm or something. As it’s literally in the middle of nowhere (surrounded by flowers so heads up for allergies) we had no choice but to drive to find something to do for 3 hours. When we finally checked in to our “glamping pod “ this could not have been further from the truth. It was a wooden triangle shed measuring just over 2meters wide ..it had a thin foam mattress and 2 very thin covers. There was no light. And you had to crawl in and out only. There was heating but we were unable to work it and the hosts already seemed unfriendly so we put on jumpers and slept in out clothes. The mattress was soooo uncomfortable and it was extremely cold. The worst thing though was that we asked to shower and was abruptly told that people staying only overnight could not use the shower. We has been on the road since 7am and then had to journey the next day so in the end we did not shower for 33 hours until we reached our hotel. This was disgusting. The actual stargazing event was ok and informative. The food was nice but the hosts didn’t introduce other guests or interact with anyone . We were unsure who worked there and who were guests. It all just seemed very unfriendly and the actual finca was not a finca Bir another what homemade looking larger shed. The pool was mouldy as were the yurts and in fact the whole place was dirty and run down . Not helped by the free range birds and animals . It was very expensive to stay in the kiddy shed and definitely not with even half the amount paid. Realistically 10€ per person would be still expensive. All said we will Never return or recommend to stay over.we felt totally ripped off.
Dear reviewer, We appreciate your feedback, but it’s important to correct several misconceptions from your review regarding your visit to Finca Astronomica. Firstly, our establishment is not a hotel; it’s a private residence dedicated to astronomical activities and sustainable living. Your booking was for an Astronomy Night, and although you opted for an added camping experience, our policy clearly states that check-in begins at 7 PM. This information is explicitly outlined in the booking details, and we are unable to accommodate early arrivals. Secondly, you mentioned discomfort with the glamping pod. We provide clear descriptions and images that represent our accommodations accurately. While it is intended to offer a unique experience, it is not a hotel room. If this style of accommodation did not meet your expectations, we encourage future guests to consider their options carefully before booking. Regarding the shower facilities, we have specific guidelines that indicate overnight guests after Astronomy Night do not have access to showers—a fact communicated clearly in our policies. We understand this may not align with all guests' expectations, but this is our decision based on the nature of our operations. Your comments about cleanliness and the facilities are unfounded. We take great pride in maintaining a clean environment. However, it was disappointing to find that you left the glamping pod untidy, with food waste and trash inside, which goes against our guidelines. Additionally, alleging mold without any evidence does not reflect the reality of our well-maintained premises. We foster a friendly and engaging atmosphere and are disappointed to hear you felt otherwise. Our staff is easily identifiable in uniforms, and we strive to interact with our guests to enhance their experience. While we regret that you did not enjoy camping in the Finca, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of our offerings and guidelines prior to their visit. We’re glad you found the Astronomy Night enjoyable and managed to mention that in your review. Thank you for your feedback.
Absolutely fantastic night, learn and see something new every time (our 3rd visit but definitely not our last) Alex and Charles are so knowledgeable and so welcoming, they make it so interesting and all in such a chilled out laid back atmosphere. The food was delicious and all home cooked as usual followed by marshmallows toasted on the open fire. Very highly recommended and as I said will be back soon

We’re glad to know that Alex and Charles made your experience engaging and enjoyable. Their knowledge and warm hospitality are truly what set our events apart! It’s also great to hear that you enjoyed the home-cooked food and the delightful tradition of toasting marshmallows by the open fire.
