Be careful with booking. I have no doubt it would have been a beautiful experience but if by chance (which was the case with me) the sail is cancelled by the company you will not get a refund but a proposed new date to sail. I am not from the area so was unable to book another time thus am out the $275.
Glorious summer evening with s beautiful sunset, great music and friendly crew
Cancelled hours before. Totally unprofessional. Gave us an option for an earlier time (before sunset) or following day, neither of which worked with our child care provider.
Nice experience if you have the a pass like the new York pass. They sail to statue of Liberty and back. They do not turn off the engine during the trip so is not 100% sailing experience but is ok
Amazing experience! We were ready-booked to another one of their boat on the west side and it was such a nice experience for our anniversary. Not crowded at all and very relaxing. Staff was 💯. Super nice and welcoming
Great to have you on board! Hope to see you again soon.
Great music, friendly crew. Because it was right after Labor Day, the ship wasn't crowded at all, so we had no problem finding a place to sit, or to walk around the ship. It was cloudy so we didn't get a great sunset, but the views of the city and Statue of Liberty are fantastic. It was really relaxing. The only thing I'd improve would be the food options, a bag of cheez-its is not cool.
As soon as I got to Pier 17 I could see there were way more passengers queuing than seats on the boat, which presents a bit of a problem to me as I am disabled from a motorbike accident and queuing, standing, walking, all eventually cause a lot of pain for me. I was already in pain from a day exploring NYC so I made myself known to one of the crew and explained I'd need a seat, they were super helpful and boarded me first, so I could be sure to get a seat, they were also discreet about this, which I really appreciated. The sailing is a nice relaxing thing, with good views of Manhattan, Statue of Liberty and Governor's Island, all to the tune of jazz fretless bass and trumpet. I really enjoyed the musical element and my teenage son, who found the cruise 'boring', said this was the best bit. High praise indeed from a surly teen. The only thing that marred this trip, was repeated requests for tips from the crew and band as we neared the end of the trip. I would have tipped both the band and the crew anyway, but asking for tips is crass and we found this most off-putting. So much so, that we cancelled our planned next trip, which was one of the evening ones later in our stay. A tip is offered, never requested. All in all a good trip, but cheapened by being asked for tips.
Would have enjoyed it more if it felt like an intimate affair. The views are great though, they take you past the Statue of Liberty and you really do catch the sunset. But it was also advertised as unlimited wine- what they don’t tell you is that there’s only 1 bar and bartender and only 2 wine options: a white or a rose. If you’re not a fan, there are other options for purchase though. The large sailboat (not to be mistaken for a cruise ship) was packed to the brim with barely enough room for the jazz band to be comfortable. The drink line kept extending back to their area because there was nowhere to stand by the bar as there were also riders seated. This was underwhelming to be honest. Thankfully I used a coupon deal, if I had paid full price I would have been upset. Oh! And a couple got engaged on the boat. That was exciting.
Thank you for your review. It is important to us to hear where you think we fell short of your expectations. To answer your specific concern, we agree. We strive to balance our guest count to allow for an intimate but spacious experience. We recently reduced our guest capacity on our jazz and other programmed events for just that reason, but an oversight was made and more tickets were sold than planned. Please text us at 212.619.6900 and then one of our managers will call you back so we can address your concerns and see how we can make it up to you.
This trip had to be re-booked from last year. It was cancelled due to weather. Re-booking the trip was easy and convenient. So glad we were able to enjoy this! The Jazz band was fun. The view of the Statue of Liberty was beautiful. It felt like the boat stopped right in front of her. It was an amazing experience!
Huge disappointment that I made the trek down and found the boat broken down. They are refunding the cost of the event, but it was a huge let down that also cost additional round trip train and Uber rides. I guess things happen, but I won't be giving them a second chance because it is an effort and a haul for me to try to make it happen. Sad...
I am sorry for your inconvenience. Canceling a departure and refunding everyone’s money, is unfortunate all around, but it was the only moral and ethical action to take. The captain was running through his pre-departure safety checks and saw something that he, in his sole discretion, felt may have jeopardized the safety of our passengers and crew. As a management practice, I will never tell my captains to operate under conditions they deem unsafe. I would prefer to lose business (and risk negative reviews), than take unnecessary risks with people’s safety. We have the most dedicated, enthusiastic and professional crew on the water and I will never second guess or pressure their decisions regarding vessel and passenger safety. I am sorry you won’t be giving us another chance. Please reach out if you change your mind as we would like the opportunity to share an amazing experience with you. - Tom Berton, Owner
