This is a walking tour around the city of Nara, largely focused on some of the ancient temples. Nara is steeped in Japanese history and was once the capital and is still an important historical city. Deer are a protected species and everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Locals and tourists buy crackers to feed them. We got Takashi as a tour guide and he was very kind and informative. He was prepared with a lot of information, handouts and demonstrations of ritual prayers at some of the various shrines. He is extremely knowledgeable.
It was a wonderful experience. Our guide Chi was very kind and knowledgeable. She was attentive and easily adaptive to our interests. The bowing deer were an unforgettable experience and the massive Buddha was spectacular. Chi also took us to a beautiful tea shop for a refreshing break.
Fantastic trip with a fantastic guide.
While staying in Kyoto, our family decided to take a day trip to Nara to see the park, its temples and the deer we’d heard so much about. Our guide, Satoshi, was wonderful. He met us in Kyoto, handled everything and made our transport very easy. During our time at the park, Satoshi made sure we experienced all of the sites without us ever feeling rushed. He was very knowledgeable and clearly explained, in fluent English, what we were seeing. The temples and shrine were incredible. The deer were also a highlight, especially for our daughter, and we had plenty of time to hang out and feed them (they are not shy 😀). Satoshi even took us to the famous mochi shop in Nara Village (not to be missed!). We could have visited the park on our own, but with an experienced guide, we learned so much more about the religion, the culture and the history of the period than we ever would have by ourselves. I highly recommend the trip and hope you meet Satoshi, who taught us a lot and was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with.
Takashi did such a wonderful job as our tour guide. He completely immersed us in Nara history and culture. Would strongly recommend this tour with Takashi. He is so friendly, knowledgeable, and inviting.
Great experience in Nara. Our guide did a fantastic job guiding us through the key sites of the city. Wonderful experience
Teppei is a super friendly and knowledgeable guide. He really goes out of his way to tailor the day for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Nara and would recommend.
Yuya was a wonderful guide! He taught us about Japan’s history and added a few places he thought we might be interested in along the time. He didn’t rush us at all, in fact he helped me locate the goshuin at the various temples and shrines we went to. We ended up going past our booked time but he didn’t mind and still didn’t rush us through anything. Absolutely recommend Yuya!
Takashi was an amazing tour guide- full of information and took great pictures for us! Really showed us so many sights and we were really moved when he he did a prayer out loud at both the shrine and the temple - would recommend this tour to everyone!!
The tour was excellent. Akino was knowledgeable and fun which made for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
