Communication is terrible. They cancelled the tour without letting us know, and we waited for half an hour. They ignored all forms of contact from us: messages, call, and email. No reason given, our entire day was a bust because at that point other tours were no longer accepting reservations.
Unfortunately our trip was cancelled so this review is not related to the trip itself. The review is based on the terrible communication from Concur. They failed to communicate that the trip was actually cancelled. I ended up phoning the night before (8:00am start) and was then informed the trip was cancelled. We had come all the way from the mainland to Isla Mujeres just for this trip. They also had not cancelled the trip officially with Tripadvisor until I phoned trip advisor to get a refund. Basically a shambles.
This was amazing todo! Was a long boat ride a lot of people on our boat got sick. About an hour ride out to the whale sharks. Was amazing to see the whale sharks though! There are a lot of people around the sharks with you since all the tours go around them as well. Was still amazing though
Had a great experience with this crew. Put us right on the whale sharks, and manta rays. There were so many in the area it made finding them easy. At the end of the trip we anchored off N. beach, swam and had fresh made ceviche. The trip was a 10/10 for me.
I recommend 100% we saw the whale sharks 3/4 times when the other boats were already leaving . Ernesto was our sailor and they also made an EXCELLENT guacamole. TOTALLY WORTH THE PRICE . amazing experience
Filiberto was fantastic! In addition to being a wonderful person he also helped us to define the itinerary giving us many interesting ideas. Traveling with Fili we always felt safe and had a lot of fun. Being a Mayan he also explained many curiosities about the local culture and helped us find local economic guides who organized private tours in our language. If I go back to Mexico, I'll contact him. It was a wonderful acquaintance!!!
The tour was a little disorganized. The communication was a little bit off. The transportation showed up late did not understand that the boats would gather all in one place with tons of people in water. Very chaotic and there was not alcohol included in tour as stated on ticket. The upside was we did see two whale sharks and the crew was nice. We stayed on isla mujeres and took ferry back to Cancun. So did not use the round trip transportation.
We arrived at the shop on time, snacks were provided (bananas, pineapple, some breads, coffee) not exciting so I would suggest eating before arrival. We waited around for about 20 minutes so the guides could figure out who went on what boat. Then all of sudden a guide told us to follow him and he basically sprinted down the street, it was hard to keep up and he didn't seem very interested if we were still behind him. We then stopped at some random place not knowing what to do, then the guide just took off again without a word and we followed. Finally getting next to the ferry station, we then waited another 10-15 minutes for a boat. We got in with the captain and another guide and then traveled about 45 minutes to the shark area. There were several boats already there and given instructions although we couldn't hear at all because the engines were so loud. Note, you will need to remove your shoes and give the captain all your belongings to be stored because there is no room on the boat. Everyone is given a snorkel mask and fins and then the first group of 2 plus the guide are instructed to sit on the side of the boat. The captain maneuvers the boat so the whale shark is swimming towards you and when the guide yells jump, you jump and swim. You have a very short window to see the shark because they swim by so fast. In my case and others, the mask kept filling with water so you couldn't really enjoy the experience. Then the guide would yell to get out and you had to climb up a really thin and slippery boat ladder to get back in. This 2 by 2 jump went until all 10 people (5 groups) where finished and then we all did it all over again. The second time I was able to keep up with the shark and swam along side which the guide wasn't very happy about. In reality you only get a handful of minutes total to see the whale shark. We get back on the boat and get a small sandwich with a slice of ham, cheese, mayonnaise and lettuce, there is also bottled water on the boat. We travel about 30-45 minutes to the north bay of Isla Mujeres which is very shallow you can walk around in it. The bay is also filled with other boats and people. We park and they prepare a nice snack of guacamole, chips and ceviche on a floating table. It was very yummy and cute. They offered to sell us the pictures they took for $65, total rip off but we bought them. Also charged $20USD per person for "dock fee" on top of the tour fee but when we got our dock bracelets the cost was only $50 pesos which is only $2.36 USD. It was a nice adventure but I would not go this route again for how short we got experience the whales. The total cost for 4 people with photos, tip, fees etc. was $870, we should have just hired a private boat
Great value, I was worried as it was one of the cheapest out there and we booked last minute. Worry I needed not, it was seamless. The driver was on time and the vehicle was clean and cool. The team on the dock were super efficient and again seamless. The captain and guide were excellent, it was very well organised once on the boat, with one dive each couple. Then a couple of stops off on the way back with lunch and refreshments.
The dive was unforgettable but the organizing agency was not professional. We were taken to the Marina from where the tour departed at 07:30 but we stayed there until 10:30 waiting to leave. The guide who took the tourists to the boat was apparently alcoholic and slept until we arrived at the dive site. He didn't interact with the tourists, he didn't answer questions, he didn't say anything. At the end of the tour he asked for more money so we could fall into the water and dive again with the shark. But the worst was that we hired photos and videos of the diving and we didn't get the photos because the guide didn't film or take pictures. This was a big disappointment because we do not have the record of the diving. We do not carry a camera since we hired the agency to take the photos and we will hardly do this type of diving again.
