It was a very busy Saturday visiting the Vatican Museum. Our guide "Joey" led us effortlessly through a 2 hour tour. He was unflappable in dealing with the crowds and provided a very rich, entertaining and informative education about what we were seeing and the history behind it. He was a superb guide!

This tour was booked directly through Viator by another couple we were traveling with at a cost of $300/couple. Their flight was delayed so they contacted Viator about the cancellation policy and were told that this was a non-refundable tour. Since we were already in Rome, my friend told us to go ahead and do the tour without them. We arrived at the tour operator's office only to find the office closed. We were able to call the number and get someone to the office. We were told that Viator had cancelled the reservation, although my friend did not cancel the reservation. The woman at the tour office said she would issue a partial refund for our friends due to their travel issues and she quickly took us to another tour office, gave us tickets, walked us to the Vatican Museum and told us where to go inside. Once inside, we were told that we were late for the 8 a.m. tour and we would have to visit the museum on our own. The paperwork she gave us showed tickets at $20 euro each and then there were additional charges for the guided tour, etc. which we did not receive. You can imagine the shock to not only not get what we paid for but then to see the difference in cost of what the tour operator was able to get us vs. what Viator charged. I called the tour operator that afternoon to advise of what happened and that we did not get a guided tour at which time she offered a full refund. After contacting Viator, we were still told that they would not give a refund per the terms of the tour. We were even willing to have Viator keep their fee and just return whatever the tour operator was actually charging but they refused. Considering that we did not request to cancel the tour, that Viator arbitrarily cancelled this tour based on not getting a response back when asked if my friend, who was having all sorts of travel issues, wanted to reschedule, and the actual Rome tour operator offered a full refund, we felt like at least a partial refund should have been issued. The entire experience with Viator was frustrating, and even after past positive experiences, we will no longer book anything through Viator.

Our you guide was super punctual and knowledgeable. He made access to the various touring areas easy and swift which allowed us to make the most of the time available at the venue. Highly recommended!

Vatican Museum was closed day of our booking?????!!!!! (Closed Friday through Sunday) Operator was not able to get us the same tour for Monday and did communicate over the weekend Would not recommend

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and a very clear communicator. It was a great experience for everyone from the 12 year old to the 75 year old.

Super experience with Viator for this tour on Monday 18th May. We arrived at the office & met a lovely, friendly young lady there who spoke great English (she was originally from Brazil but I didn't get her name). She walked us to the Vatican (past the long line of others waiting to enter), through security and got our tickets for us at the booth before leaving us with our tour group. Super professional service. The tour was excellent, we were in a group of about 20. Very enjoyable and this was the best way we could have managed to visit the Vatican in the short time we had in Rome.
