O Cinema-Museu Tomàs Mallol é uma instituição permanente, sem fins lucrativos, aberta ao público como espaço de participação científica, cultural e recreativa dos cidadãos, e ao serviço da sociedade e do seu desenvolvimento. A sua origem encontra-se na aquisição da Coleção Tomás Mallol de objetos cinematográficos e pré-cinematográficos pela cidade de Girona em 28 de janeiro de 1994. A sua missão é favorecer a compreensão e o conhecimento da história da imagem em movimento e do cinema através da conservação, investigação, interpretação e exibição de várias coleções, cujos objetos explicam como as imagens eram representadas antes do cinema e qual era o processo técnico que levou à invenção do cinematógrafo em 1895.

Excellent museum illustrating the history of cinematography with lots of displays and hands on exhibits. Interesting for all ages and a reasonable 7 euro entry fee for adults. We spent a good hour here.
It is not just about cinema; it is also about the beginning of photography and moving images. All the topics discussed with explanations and especially the equipment.
Absolutely amazing museum with a vast collection donated by Tomas Mallol I believe, and dates back several centuries in its ability to tell the full story of cinema and photography. We spent a few hours viewing this very interesting collection with the help of an audio guide downloaded to our phones at the front desk. Admission was €7 or €3.50 for over 65s. Well worth a visit and a must for photographic fans. For food try the restaurant across the square La Taverna for great tapas and mains.
Excellent presentation depicting prominent figures in cinema, showing the large number of Jews who invested in this segment.
Brilliant place to visit - learnt so much about the history of cinema. If you are a film buff it’s a place you have to go to when visiting Girona.
Museum really very nice, attention to detail. The visit begins with a short introductory film. Friendly staff.
Packed with information on how humans have been creative in capturing light and frames. Many interactive elements. From medieval times to 1970s or so. We spent a bit more than 2h, but our teen is also theater student so inherently interested in these things. Tour starts with short movie capturing the essence of what you are about to see and the humans fascination with cinema. Fantastic experience overall.

Interactive and beautiful experience. Retrace the entire history of cinema and you can see incredible historical artifacts. For film fans super recommended!
Passing by the sign, I decided to take a look and it is without regret! The museum is really complete is interesting for film connoisseurs as well as for a general audience, the animations are well done and we do not see the past time. Beautiful objects are on display and the Audio Guide is directly included in the Award. The Award of the visit which is very low is profitable from the first floor (and there are 3!). I strongly recommend this museum for future travelers to this city!
