My wife and I attended the Advent concert (no dinner) in mid-December. The music was very good and we enjoyed the concert, but I think they need a little more talking for those of us who don't know much about the music. Simply stating what is going to be played for the next 45 minutes, then taking a 15 minute break, then repeating this again doesn't really work especially with the Advent music at the end which we have no idea what it is or where it came from. Be a little more enthusiastic and even inject a little humour - "this is the hit parade from the mid-1700's played by the Palace rock stars". Are the instruments the same as used in the 1700s? In what type of setting would it have been played and to what type of audience. Etc... Also be worthwhile if the musicians mingled with the audience after the concert to answer any questions or even make light conversation. That all said the concert is definitely worth attending.
The concert itself was amazing, and I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Salzburg. My only complaint is that TripAdvisor had the concert start time listed as 5:30pm, when it actually started at 5pm. This caused my family to be late and miss several pieces of music. A real bummer.
Beautiful venue, fantastic night out. Did not have the meal so can not comment on food. We arrived about and hour early so we could look at the city at night. Very small venue so sound is not an issue no matter your seat.
Beautiful Christmas Eve concert, impressive fortress with city views. Give yourself plenty of time to find the funicular station.
Amazing experience, worth of the money! I would definitely recommend and probably coming back next year.
The performance and the setting were wonderful. Unfortunately, they are the world’s most uncomfortable chairs which detracted from the experience. Also unclear what the “first class” ticket got us.
Special experience! We thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Was easy to find from our centrally located hotel, the Viator tickets worked perfect at the checkin and the ride to the top on the funicular (included with the ticket) was spectacular. The musicians were so talented and entertaining. Highly recommend doing this. If you don’t do the dinner package, know that there is a cafe in the music hall for hot drinks and other beverages as well as restrooms!
This is a must do in Salzberg if you love classical music. The Fortress and the music are amazing. Great place and great music. Loved the climb to the top. The small chamber orchestra is perfect for the venue.
A memorable part of the joy of visiting Salzburg. Great location and a great atmosphere. Mesmerising.
The room was too warm . The chairs uncomfortable. The musicians were excellent but were not interactive with the audience. I was expecting more holiday experience in music and interaction. Left at half time.
