We had a fantastic experience on our first day after arriving in Tokyo. Sakura was so kind and funny. She really took her time showing us how to make (the most delicious) mochi and giving us tips for our trip as well. Even my son who is not really into making food thought the experience was wonderful. Sakura really made us feel at ease in her home and we learnt a lot about Mochi and Japanese culture, as well as coming out with the tastiest mochis ever. Could not recommend more.
Much better than I expected. Sakura-san was very understanding and helpful, and the process was surprisingly interesting!
Sakura was a great teacher in a very private setting, introducing the history and cultur around matcha and mochi before getting right into making it all ourselves from scratch. Bonus: cute dog too!
We had an amazing time learning how to make sweets with Sakura san! She is so friendly and it’s great to learn about the Japanese culture behind the different types of sweets as well as how to make them. Her dog Choco is adorable and loves getting pats and cuddles before and after the class (and heads off to bed for a nap during it!). The sweets taste great and Sakura san gives you recipes and information about the ingredients so that you can make them yourself back home. She even kindly gave us some hand warmers as we left on a cold afternoon. A lovely activity to do while you’re in Tokyo!
Sakura-san was so welcoming, kind, and great to learn from! Her passion for teaching others shines through. This was easily a top highlight of our trip. The desserts we made were easy, and delicious. She even had a little "photo op" table for us to showcase our desserts! We hope to be able to take a class with Sakura-san again if we ever end up going back to Japan :)
First time attending class in the instructor's house. Sakura-san was a great instructor and host. She was clear and detailed in her instructions. There was a short history of Japanese sweets and the area she lived in before commencing the hands on.
It was a delightful experience to make our own dango, mochi and dorayaki dessert set from scratch. Sakura san is extremely kind and patient with all us to guide us through step by step to make instagram worthy dessert. Highly recommend for families , friends or even colleagues on team bonding.
Nothing is more authentic than visiting a private home and learning how to make mochi in a private kitchen. Fabulous!
When I visited Japan it was very very hot, so I tried to find things to do inside as well as seeing the sights. As someone who is gluten free/celiac, I wanted to try sweets in a way that wouldn’t get me sick. Sakura’s class is perfect. She is so sweet and kind, and is a great mentor as she walks you through four different desserts. They were delicious and flavorful without being super difficult. Her neighborhood is also super fun to walk around. Highly, highly recommend!
My daughter loves everything mochi so I surprised her with the mochi class with Sakura San. She was so thorough on communicating clearly. We got lucky and had the class to ourselves so it was like having a private lesson. The educational piece, the background music, temperature, set up, really everything was perfect. Loved the hands on approach, the timing, taste and Choco the dog! Thank you. Highly recommend and makes you appreciate the art and culture of mochi more.
