Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein Museu Multisensorial em Bath

We found this interesting if you’re a fan of Frankenstein and Mary Shelley. Informative but also great film memorabilia and themed artefacts. Best bit though is at the end in the basement…
Hi Journey45178632354, thank you for you lovely 5 star review! We're so pleased you enjoyed your visit, it's great to know when we're a hit with the fans! Well done for braving the basement too - not everyone makes it down there!
We had a blast! We did the Victor's Lair escape room, and then explored the entire house (including the scary basement). The escape was innovative and had great visuals, lots of fun. The history of the building really added to the atmosphere and the staff were very helpful.
Hi Allister, thank you for visiting and taking the time to leave us a lovely 5 star review. We really appreciate it! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed both the escape room and museum. We hope you managed to escape Victor's clutches in time! We will pass your kind comments onto our team, too. We hope we will see you again soon in our other escape room - The Shallows!
Spur of the moment visit. Lovely little museum independently run. We didn't do Escape Room, so we may return to do that at some point. Definitely worth a visit, small but informative.
Hi, Dominique K thank you for stopping in to visit us during your visit to Bath and taking time to leave us a lovely 4 stare review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your experience and hope you will return again soon to try out one of our escape rooms!
I am a fan of Frankenstein and never thought I would run into a connection with Mary Shelley in the town of Bath. She did live here and the town of Bath was in the period she wrote this book. Very interesting facts of Mary’s life as you climb the stairs. In the top room you see a recreation of Frankenstein’s Monster as Shelley describes him. Very interesting and quirky displays keep the tour interesting but the greatest treasure is a pretty complete description of Mary herself.
Hi 131mitchelb, Thank you for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed discovering Mary Shelley's connection to Bath through our museum. We are so passionate about brining Mary Shelley's story to life and sharing her work with our guests, so it's encouraging to hear when a Frankenstein fan enjoyed all the elements our exhibits have to offer. We hope you will visit us again next time you're in Bath.
Brilliantly informative and fun from start to finish. And the basement was terrifying. We spotted what looked like a live actor walking towards us and legged it screaming 😂 . Highly recommend!
Hi Heather S, thank you for your 5 star review, we're so pleased to hear you had a terrifyingly good time! We hope to see you again soon!
The fact that this is called a multisensory museum built up my expectations and I have to admit I was left slightly deflated by the overall experience. The museum was certainly very informative and I learnt a lot about Mary Shelley's life which I did not know before and you do become immersed in her world and how Frankenstein 'came to life'. The themed rooms are slightly spooky and atmospheric and the gory specimens in jars, memorabilia and vintage movie posters will clearly please horror fans. The highlight of the museum is probably the 8 foot animatronic creature which although fairly impressive & based on Mary Shelleys own description of the monster I was again slightly disappointed by and only really noticed his chest moving (to replicate breathing) whilst I was there. The biggest disappointment by far was the basement which was basically just a lot of small dark alcoves and not scary in the least. I heard someone scream but I am not sure why! Again, this is supposed to be multisensory experience with audio and visual effects so maybe I just went in at the wrong time because I didn't notice anything like that. Overall, I was glad I visited the House of Frankenstein although personally I was more interested in Mary Shelley herself than the famous monster she created so perhaps I would have been better off just reading her biography. This is an award winning museum which I expect will appeal more to children/teenagers who I have no doubt will find it far more scary and exciting than I did.
Hi RUUDBOY09, thank you for visiting and taking the time to share such a detailed review. We're pleased to hear that you found the museum informative and that you enjoyed learning more about Mary Shelley's life and the fascinating story behind the creation of Frankenstein. We're sorry the museum didn't meet your expectations, but appreciate your feedback, in particular regarding the multisensory elements and basement. Our exhibits are designed to be both fun and informative; using sound effects, lighting and aromas to immerse guests in a spooky atmosphere, but we recognise that these elements may not deliver the same experience for everyone. We will take your comments on board and utilise them to help us understand how we can improve the overall customer experience going forwards. Thank you again for visiting and if you'd like to leave us any mor comments or suggestions, we invite you to contact us at info@houseoffrankenstein.com
Brilliant tour . Our tour guide was brilliant. Sorry never got your name. Met us at the meeting point and did a 1 hour walking tour. Going through the story of Mary shelley and her family. Walking to different points of interest on our way. Ending up at the museum of frankinstin. Brilliant. I do recommend taking a drink. Especially as it was so hot yesterday. Highly recommend.

Something fun and quirky to do whist on a vist to bath. Learnt a little bit about the famous frankenstein. The basement attraction was quite jumpy. Worth a visit if you're into horror
Hi samjh2023, thank you for leaving us a 5 star review! We really appreciate it and hope you will stop by again next time you are in Bath.
I have always loved Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus so when I happened to see this museum coincidentally while in Bath, I had to jump right in! If you are a "purist" like me, the ghoul-ishness and the old-school "monster" angles might make you wince, but stick with it because it truly is a museum about Mary Shelley - and what a life she had! The museum is set up perfectly to bring you throughout Mary's life and her tumultuous relationships with her step-sister Claire, her lover/husband Percy, and Lord Byron. Each piece of writing was engaging and really told the story like you were reading a book. You really felt immersed in the gothic world of Mary Shelley. They still do have a lot of material dedicated to the pop culture "monster" angle, so if you are into that then you would love it too. Highly, highly recommend!!
