Lake Tekapo Ultimate Stargazing Experiência

Definitely the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. The stargazing location was excellent, offering a clear and unobstructed view of the night sky. Our guide, Jacob, was amazing—he shared plenty of fascinating insights about the stars and planetary systems, while keeping the session engaging with his humor. Since there were only two of us, Jacob kindly took the opportunity to let us view even more through the telescope instead of strictly following the original plan. Would highly recommend this tour.

Tamir conveniently picked us up directly from our hotel and drove us to the site out on private farmland accessible by dirt road. The location added to the feeling of being "in tune" with the universe. The provided coats and chairs were a welcome nicety since night temperatures were a bit cooler than we were able to pack for. The sky was clear, but the nearly full moon was bright enough to drown out some of the stars. Luckily, Tamir was opportunistic, making the most of the conditions. We were still able to see Jupiter, Alpha Centauri, and several others as he explained the significance of each among many other interesting facts. The casual, small group nature allowing for questions made it all the more engaging. And of course, the 18" telescope is significantly larger than what most may have at home, allowing for new and exciting perspectives. Overall, highly recommend!

Outstanding experience with Alex as our guide. Excellent sightings through the telescope. & the private farm area outside of Tekapo had both the elevation and the lack of light pollution to let one see the full night sky virtually from horizon to horizon in all directions. Because of weather conditions, Go Tekapo contacted me and worked with me on rebooking for a better time. I thank Alex & company for that. They were far more concerned with offering a quality experience than simply grabbing some cash. I would book with Go Tekapo again.

Bus pickup from town and ride out to a farm in a dark sky zone. They describe some of the items in the sky and have a decent telescope to view a number of them. They have blankets/jackets and lay-back chairs. Lots of picture opportunities.

Wonderful experience with our guide Kira who provided a wonderful enthusiastic and knowledgeable presentation. We had a great time with clear skies and no moon. Would recommend this experience to others. Our contact with those in all aspects of the activity -i.e., on the phone, email, in the shop and Kira the guide was exceptional.

Excellent first trip of our stay in NZ…saw Southern Lights, Jupiter, Orion’s Belt & Milky Way….we were so lucky to have such a clear night. Our guide was informative & fun 👍

Need to have clear skies and cannot see anything if cloud cover. However, agent kept in close contact - gave options for rescheduling and really helpful when we decided to go ahead. Guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable - tried to make outing a success in spite of weather conditions.

The night sky in & around slake Tekapo is amazing . We were lucky enough to book this tour on a clear night . Tamir our guide picked us up from our apartment and took us up a dark hill. We sat in laid back chairs and we were given blankets which were needed as it was a little breezy . The sky was huge and there were literally billions of stars visible to the naked eye. Our guide Tamir gave us lots of facts and we saw a few stars and planets through his telescope . What a fab experience. He was very knowledgeable & had a good sense of humour !

Tameer was a very good guide. Knowledgeable and passionate about astronomy. Definitely an experience worth doing.

They picked us up at our doorstep and transported us to the farm where there were chairs coats and warm blankets. Gave a very entertaining and informative. Talk on STARZ and planets and also took great photos for us. Would do with this again it was great. They could get a little speaker to hear him better when he’s talking upfront of the van while he’s driving, He was fantastic willing to answer questions and the hot chocolate and appetizers was a nice touch can’t tell you the last time I stayed up until 2 AM
