Lake Atitlan: Cerimônia Maia nas Cavernas Sagradas

What an incredible opportunity to see and experience a little bit of Mayan culture carried forward today. The ceremony is a truly unique way to give thanks and ask for new blessings. The caves get very smoky and anything you touch will get black so don't wear anything you're hoping to wear for the rest of the day :) We loved taking a small break out of our day to slow things down, learn a little and feel a lot. Alex was a WONDERFUL guide full of life and laughter. He answered all of our questions and made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable.

This was the highlight of my trip! It was just me and the shaman and the experience was so personal and peaceful. He answered any questions I had before/ after the ceremony and helped me with starting my spiritual journey. 1000/10 recommend

Alex and his family met us and took to Secret Caves. Since we were only two of us it was very personal. We learned who we are according Mayan Calendar. It was very emotional and real too. It was the most memorable experience during our visit in Guatemala.

I am very blessed that I have met my tour guide and newfound friend, Alex, in this tour. We spent our walk talking about the Mayan culture and its importance today. We also talked about life experiences and he gave me advices as someone who is still finding my way in life.Me, Alex and the other travelers were supporting each other like a family as we did the ritual. I highly recommend this activity especially for those who want to know more about Mayan spirituality and their culture, as well as yourself too.

I knew I wanted to partake in a shamanic ritual and I am so grateful for the experience offered by Kayak Guatemala. Alex was my shaman and I feel extremely lucky to have witnessed his devotion during the ceremony. I emerged from the cave feeling spiritually cleansed and left with a deep appreciation for the land and Mayan culture.

This was such a beautiful experience! I know it would be cheesy to say life-changing, but it was really eye-opening and amazing! Our guide was so kind and welcoming to their culture and traditions. Wonderful experience! So special to learn about Mayan culture and tradition. The Shaman, Carlos, and our guide, Mario, were incredible. The chicken bus was really fun. Definitely wear sneakers, the walk would not be good in flip-flops and you can get ash on you, so don't wear white. Highly recommend this tour. It was such a unique meaningful experience. Learning more about my Mayan sign and how it interacts with my partner's sign was amazing.
