O original Ghostwalk de Charleston

If you’re visiting Charleston, book a tour with Patricia “Trish” Goren at The Original Ghost Walk Tour. We just finished her tour, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Trish is a true Charleston native, and her stories are based on real local accounts, not a canned script. She even shares photos tied directly to the paranormal history she has experienced and describes. The wildest part. We were standing with her about six feet from a streetlight on a corner. While she was talking, the top of the light pole started shaking, almost violently. There was no wind, and no other poles were moving. Then she asked it to stop, and it did. She acknowledged the paranormal presence and politely asked it to shake again, and it did. She said it was the first time she’d seen that specific physical reaction, and even she was amazed. It was truly a “see it to believe it” moment. By the end, it felt like walking through Charleston with a friend who knows every secret and haunt in town. She is charming, professional, and genuinely local. Support a local expert and skip the big corporate tours. She is the real deal who clearly lives and loves what she does. Having done ghost tours in Scotland and England I was not to hopeful for the authenticity and quality of this tour. I was so wrong …this was hands down the best ghost tour I have ever been on. When I say I had chills I mean CHILLS… firstly Trish’s knowledge of the history of the area is extensive and fascinating, secondly she really did summon presence of paranormal activity if you do anything in Charleston it should be this! It is epic!

We were four cousins on a girls' trip to Charleston, and the first time in the city for all of us. We met Tricia (sp?) and she was right on time, and immediately her friendly demeanor won us over. The tour was full of history, great ghost stories, and southern charm. Her tour was one of the the highlights of our trip!

Tricia was absolutely fabulous I grew up here in Mount Pleasant, but my friend was new to the area I can tell you the stories the names were all accurate. She really knows her history. The photos that she shows are incredible She’s able to validate her stories with street names and old store names that I can tell you actually existed. She speaks in such detail. I have no doubt what she is saying is the truth.

This tour was great and Tricia was a great tour guide! Her stories were very interesting and easy to follow. My husband and I both really liked that she had personal stories as well as historical stories. Tricia is a native Charlestonian so is an expert tour guide. I highly recommend this tour and Tricia to anyone looking for a tour!

Before selecting this tour, I read reviews carefully and was excited to have found a local tour guide and was looking forward to some truly authentic and possibly unique stories. The reviews spoke very positively of Tricia and we were excited to meet her. When we arrived, a second tour guide was present. The size of our group and configuration of the other group (who had been promised Tricia as a guide) meant we would have to go with the other guide or split our group of 14. (Tour guides are only allowed groups of 20, so if on your tour night, there are more than that, a second guide will be used). I was disappointed, given all the positive reviews of Tricia. But, she worked very hard to move people around and I was thrilled when we were able to go with her. Reviews talking about the use of her ipad are accurate. She did show us many pictures, which I found interesting. She told us some historic, Charleston specific stories (e.g. about Robert E Lee and the Mills House Hotel). However, many of her stories were about personal friends' encounters with and her own encounters with ghosts. The stories were sometimes difficult to follow and when talking with family after the tour, found that we shared the experience of being confused at many points in time. We also covered, what seemed to be, a very small area. We ended up standing in front of just a handful of sites, for what felt like long periods of time. For one of the most haunted cities in America, I definitely expected to hear many, many local and historic stories and see more sites. Many years ago, I went on a ghost tour in Charleston that was like that. This was different, but not better.

Oh my gosh! This was the BEST GHOST TOUR I’VE EVER BEEN ON. Now, although this was the only one I’ve been on, I still consider it the greatest. This inspired me to look at flickering lights more closely for any nearby spirits. Tricia was amazing in all ways, we really loved her as a tour guide. She showed us all her ghost photos and described with detail!! She even called out to the spirits and showed us their answers!!!!! We really loved this and we would recommend! ❤️

Best ghost tour I’ve ever joined. Loved that Tricia was a Charleston native who could interweave lived experiences into these rich histories. We also had a chilling experience outside the former Mills House Hotel and left with many spooky pictures with suspicious blue orbs that make you wonder. I highly recommend this tour over any other hack ghost tour in Charleston.

Such a fun tour! Lots of history about the cemeteries, old buildings, people and incidents occurring in downtown Charleston. Tricia is an experienced, knowledgeable guide who clearly enjoys what she does! Thanks for a wonderful time!
