Jacamar was our go to for all of our adventure experiences in Costa Rica. They have an amazing staff and fabulous outings. I would recommend any of their tours, or adventures.
Tour guide Diego and his driver (forgot his name) picked us up at the resort and drove us to the waterfall. Went down the 530 steps to the waterfall with some spectacular views along the way. We didn’t swim but we took tons of pics and he also took many for us while there. The trek back up was quite the adventure but many places to sit and take in the views along the way. Once we made it to the top we headed to the farm for a farm to table meal which was fantastic. The people are so friendly and their homemade hot sauce was a huge hit and I bought some to bring home. Might need a supplier lol. Learned about farm life and even saw plenty of wildlife. This experience is so worth it! Highly recommend
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for joining our La Fortuna Waterfall hike. We’re so happy to hear you had such a great experience from start to finish. Diego and the team will be very glad to know you enjoyed the hike and all those beautiful views along the way. We’re glad you were able to take your time and enjoy the surroundings. It’s also great to hear you loved the farm-to-table meal at La Finquita Farm and especially the hot sauce. Thank you again for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future.
Our tour guide from Jacamar was the best. He picked us up (just the two of us) in a lovely air conditioned van and took us to La Fortuna waterfall. We stopped to catch our breath numerous times on the way down, he guarded our stuff while we took load of photos from various locations. We opted to not go in the water - it was very busy (but still gorgeous). We had mango smoothies when we got to the top (very refreshing) and then went to La Finquita a local organic farm. The same guide (I can't remember his name) was excellent and showed us everything that was growing on this organic farm. It was really interesting. We saw bananas, plantain, papaya, pineapple and sop much more. They have their own forest walk along a river too - totally gorgeous. We saw loads of wildlife and a red poison dart frog!! It's such a beautiful place and he told us that they are thinking of developing into a wellness retreat. Think organic food, yoga, meditation, nature - it would be amazing! I really wished that this bit of the tour was longer and that they should have been busier - please go!!!! The food in the open air restaurant was really good. Farm to table organically grown and freshly harvested from the farm. I absolutely recommend this tour if you are in La Fortuna.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We are truly happy to know that the day felt enjoyable and well paced, and that you were able to take in the beauty of both the waterfall and the surroundings at your own rhythm. It is especially nice to hear that the time at the farm stood out as a meaningful part of your visit. At La Finquita, we put a lot of care into creating a space where nature, food, and local traditions come together in an authentic way, so it means a lot that this came through during your time there. We also appreciate your kind words about the guiding, as our team is dedicated to making each experience feel personal and memorable. Thank you again for your recommendation. We would love to welcome you back in the future.
My partner and I booked this excursion not expecting too much. But we're we wrong we had a great tour guide by the name of Carlos. He was very informative and professional. He was patient with us and motivated us to get back up those 500 steps to see the waterfall. Seeing the waterfall up close was so magical. It was worth all those steps 😬. The lunch after at the farm was really good and he gave us a tour of the farm that was such a great experience as well. Day well spent!!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your experience exceeded expectations and that Carlos made such a positive impact with his knowledge, professionalism, and encouragement along the way. Those 500 steps can be a challenge, but we are so glad you found the waterfall magical and worth the effort. It is also great to know you enjoyed the lunch and the farm tour afterward. At Jacamar Naturalist Tours, we love creating complete experiences, and we truly appreciate you choosing to spend your day with us.
Memorable moment walking to the Catarata waterfall. Hundreds of steps going down and then as many stairs back up! Two spots for swimming...one very near the falls...requires more effort as you access the falls on the stones at the base of the fall. Nice experience. The other spot, in an area with much easier access just beside the fall.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience. We are happy to hear that your visit to La Fortuna Waterfall was a memorable one. The walk and the stairs can certainly be part of the adventure, and it is great to know you enjoyed the different swimming spots and the overall experience. Thank you for choosing Jacamar Naturalist Tours. We truly appreciate your trust in us.
We had Cindy as our guide. She was great! It's a whole lot of stairs down to the water and back up, but totally doable for young and old (unless, I guess, bad knees). Setting for lunch, and meal itself, was also great. I highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your kind recommendation! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great experience with Cindy as your guide — she’ll be very happy to know her work made a difference during your hike. La Fortuna Waterfall is definitely a workout with all the stairs, but we’re glad to hear you found it manageable and worthwhile for guests of different ages. It’s also wonderful to know that you enjoyed the lunch at La Finquita Farm and the beautiful setting. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we truly hope to welcome you back on another adventure in La Fortuna!
We just got back from a tour with Cesar and Diego. We booked the La Fortuna waterfall with organic farm through our hotel Heliconias Nature Inn and Spa and this is who the tours was through. They were extremely accommodating and even stopped on the road so we could see a sloth and some Macaws. It was awesome. They were informative with history and the natural surroundings of the waterfall area and our six year old daughter and my 72 year old parents handled the stairs quite well. Cesar made sure to stay with my parents the whole way up and was very patient when they needed to stop and rest. The farm tour was amazing where we were able to press can juice and learn about what they grew there. And the food was amazing! I would highly recommend this tour! Cesar and Diego thank you for such an amazing day!
An experience with photo opportunities galore along a picturesque hike. Henry, our guide was fabous and very accommodating. The dip in the water was exilerating! After the hike, we had a full tour of the farm property .The farm to table lunch was plentiful with a wide range of local, authentic foods from beginning to end! Great experience!
This was a great experience! And definitely worth the trek down and back up the stairs! Not overly difficult and plenty of places to rest on the way back up.
We were picked up timely and our guide Bernado was highly professional. We toured with a couple from Spain on their honeymoon. Bernardo spoke fluent English and Spanish which made our trip even better. The waterfall location was a short drive from our hotel. They had towels and cold water available for us. As we walked, Bernardo found unusual wildlife and took the time to help us take photos and set up his sighting scope. The waterfall was beautiful and Bernado gave us good advice about how to avoid injury. We took it and enjoyed the trip. To our surprise, we were taken to a farm owned by the touring company where we saw the blue frog and many other plants on the farm. We saw gorgeous stream and water fall there too. Then after a walk through the woods, we came upon a full outdoor kitchen and dining area where we were served a delicious lunch and dessert. The entire experience was top notch!
