Good tour although it would be interesting to add more than just beaches, like some city, Spanish speaking guide
This review unfortunately can’t say much beyond communication, which was good. The operator texted when the tour was confirmed and was responsive to questions via text. The BIG caveat for CRUISERS at a TENDER port: Our ship arrived in Kona, and while we were waiting for the captain to announce that tenders would begin, he instead informed us that swells were too high and it wasn’t safe to operate them. As a result, the port call was canceled. I can’t fault the operator for not providing a full refund, as they were impacted as well. They did provide a 50% refund through Viator, which we appreciated. However, our party of six still lost out, not only on experiencing Kona and that part of the Big Island on what was a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but also financially. It was especially frustrating since passengers who booked through the cruise line or cruise-friendly tour operators received full refunds. Cruisers may want to consider this risk when booking with this tour operator.

From the very first day of your booking, we remained in constant communication with you. On the day of the tour, we arrived at the harbor at the agreed time and were fully prepared to operate your experience. After waiting for approximately two hours, we were informed—just as you were—that the captain had canceled the tender operations due to unsafe ocean conditions. Unfortunately, this was a decision made by the cruise line for safety reasons, and it directly impacted all independent operators on the island. Despite this, we still worked to provide a 50% refund, even though the cancellation was entirely outside of our control. We understand that some cruise-line-affiliated excursions may have different policies, but as an independent, fully private operator, we structure our experiences differently. We genuinely regret that you were unable to visit Kona and experience the island as planned. We take pride in delivering exceptional service, and we were ready to provide that experience for you. We met this company in Hilo during our cruise ship call. I didn't thing twice to hire them in our next call to Kona. The timing for this tour is perfect, we enjoy the east side of Big Island and return to the pier with enough time.

The Kona Coast Tour took us through some of the most breathtaking parts of the island, from ancient lava fields to stunning coastal views and beautiful, secluded beaches. He was knowledgeable, funny, and so welcoming, sharing incredible insights about the land, Hawaiian culture, and even some hidden spots we would’ve never found on our own.
