A precious experience.

I felt safe at all times with our tour guide Ismail, and I consider the experience that this tour through Kibera offers - getting to know life and conditions in the slum - to be a great personal enrichment. I would take the tour again when the opportunity arises.

Kevin's Passion Makes This Tour Truly Special

I had an unforgettable experience with Kevin's Kibera Slum Tour. What impressed me the most was Kevin himself. Having grown up in Kibera, he guides visitors with genuine passion, pride, and a strong sense of purpose. I could clearly see that this is much more than a business for him—he truly wants people to understand the community and its future. During the tour, I was able to learn about the daily lives of people in Kibera, the challenges they face, the positive changes that are already happening, and the potential for further development. The experience gave me a much deeper and more balanced perspective than I could ever get from news or social media. I joined the tour alone, but I felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire visit. Kevin was also very respectful of the local community and carefully explained where photography was appropriate and where it was not, which helped me feel confident that I was being a responsible visitor. If you want to understand the real Kibera with an honest and respectful guide, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your story and your community with us.

Fantastic tour, people, and company

This tour was awesome and real eye-opener. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience something different. Kevin and his brother (Ishmael? Dont know the spelling) were professional, knowledgeable, very entertaining, and with high customer service skills. The only thing that was disappointing was booked a private tour in which in reality (in my opinion) it is a group tour if another group books on the same day as you go everywhere with them. However, that being said, it was truly a fantastic tour and I highly recommend this to everybody.

Excellent tour!!

Fanatic tour around the Kibera Slum in Nairobi. Visiting the school children was a massive highlight. So many smiling faces. Kevin and his brother did an amazing tour with providing lots of information about the different communities within the slum. The bone workshop was very interesting - and the team were great fun!

Highly recommended

I had the pleasure of meeting both Kevin and his brother Ismail during my visit to Kibera. As they’ve both been brought up in Kibera, they’re very knowledgeable and are very eager to tell you all about life in Kibera. They’re great guys which care deeply about both the community within Kibera and the orphanage/school they support. I would highly recommend booking this tour!

NOT JUST A SLUM BUT A COMMUNITY

This tour was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I have visited Slums before in other African Countries, however I have never been personally invited into someone's home. This tour began with our tour guide Ismael picking us up at our AirBnB in Nairobi. We then drove to the Slums of Kibera and walked through the community to Ismael's home where we met his wife and daughter. Ismael explained the history of the Slums and how even living in these conditions, the people living there pay rent. I was quite surprised that the government would allow people to pay to live in these conditions, but after interacting with the people of the community, it became clear that because the people of the community pay to live there, they are vested in their community. The Slums was not only homes, but an entire community with stores, schools. car washes, and much more. We visited a local school and engaged with the children. That was quite a treat. We also visited a Bone workshop where the local men take cattle and camel bones and turn them into beautiful jewelry, chopsticks, napkin holders and a variety of other thing. While walking through the community, everyone was very welcoming because Ismael explained to us that the profits from our tour (and every tour) goes back to community in some way. Our tour was small and private and I would recommend attending this tour with a small group to make it more personable.

An Educational Experience

This was an awesome experience I will never forget. Ismael was great. My daughter and I were invited into his home where his wife was very hospitable. The village was an educational experience. The bone factory was also amazing and taught me a lot about recycling to make thing work creatively. Will share with my American friends and family. Thank you so much.

A wonderful experience

Kevin took us on an amazing tour of Kibela with his brother Ismael. What a fantastic opportunity to see how people live in such challenging conditions and feel the spirit of those living there. The fact that Keven picked us up and dropped us at our hotel was a huge benefit as it is not easy to move around the city. I highly recommend this tour.

Beyond Safari: A Life-Changing Visit to Kibera with Kevin & Ismael

Our visit to Kibera was one of the most powerful and eye-opening experiences my wife and I have ever had. Unlike the safari tours that focus on Kenya’s breathtaking wildlife and landscapes, this tour focused on something even more important — the people. Kibera is considered the largest informal settlement in Africa, with nearly 800,000 people living there. Before the tour even began, our amazing guide Kevin picked us up from our hotel in Nairobi. During the drive, he gave us a detailed and honest introduction to Kibera’s history, its current situation, and the many initiatives being taken to uplift the community — including projects he and his brother Ismael personally lead to support local families. From the very beginning, we felt this would be a meaningful experience. As we walked through different areas of Kibera, we witnessed the harsh reality of how people live there. The conditions are undeniably difficult. However, what touched us most was something deeper: the incredible sense of community. Despite the challenges, the bonds between people seemed stronger than ever. Everyone was kind, supportive, and respectful toward one another. There was dignity, warmth, and humanity everywhere we looked. Kevin guided us thoughtfully and respectfully, explaining daily life while ensuring we felt comfortable at all times. One of the most special moments of the tour was visiting Ismael’s home. Meeting his family was a privilege. They welcomed us with such warmth and kindness — we immediately felt like friends, not visitors. Sitting together, sharing conversations, and experiencing life inside a home in Kibera is something that truly raises awareness and shifts perspectives. It reminds you that behind statistics and headlines, there are families, dreams, and love. The most emotional and uplifting part of the tour was visiting the local orphanage and school that supports more than 250 children. We met several classes, their teachers, and the principal and founder of the school. The dedication of everyone involved is extraordinary. But the real highlight? The children. Their smiles, their hugs, their discipline, their respect — they genuinely change you. These are incredibly well-educated and well-mannered kids who radiate hope and potential. It was inspiring to see the excellent work being done by those supporting their education and upbringing. This part of the tour will stay in our hearts forever. We were also impressed by how discreet and respectful the local residents were. Not a single person approached us to sell something or ask for money. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Most importantly, not even for a single moment did we feel unsafe. We ended the experience with a stop at a bone handicraft shop — a wonderful final touch that supports local artisans and allows visitors to contribute directly to the community. This tour is not just a visit. It is an experience that changes the way you see the world. It reminds you of what really matters — community, resilience, dignity, and hope. Kevin and Ismael, who were born and raised in Kibera, are doing incredible work alongside many others to uplift their community. By joining this tour, you not only learn — you also contribute in a small but meaningful way to their efforts. We strongly encourage everyone visiting Nairobi to take this tour. It will move you, inspire you, and stay with you forever. We truly loved the local community.
