Great tour with really knowledgeable, interesting and charming guide - learnt a lot and would recommend highly
We had an amazing walking tour with Joao Rocha as he took us on the Jewish History Tour. Joao was wonderful as he explained all about the history of the Jewish people that lived in Porto . He was very knowledgeable, kind and considerate and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. When the tour was over , it didn’t seem like 3 hours had gone by. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our time with Joao and would recommend anyone coming to Porto and wants to take this tour to have Joao be their guide!
the worst guide i have ever had. really did not realize it was a jewish tour he was giving. to say that the jews moved to a getto which he would not say getto and locked in at night made the jews happy to uproot their homes and moved to be locked in at night was what the jews liked. reasoning is they had their own oven for cooking. Also the October 7 attack may not have happened depending on the media that you read. bad answer for the murder, torture, and rape of innocent people. You should be ashamed for hiring a person like that. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. MORRIE REIFF 01+818-359-6888
Very detailed and personable guide. Riveting history of Jewish perseverance. Our guide, Ricardo, did an excellent job of weaving Portugal and Jewish history. Great tour.
Hello Jadon, thank you so much for your review. Really happy that you enjoyed the tour, Ricardo but mostly our jewish heritage in Porto. All the best.
Our guide said that Insurrection was not all bad was not acceptable. Putting Jews in an area where they were locked in at night and opened in the morning was a good thing because they had their own oven to cook with, he said that. We asked if he thought the massacre in Israel was a bad thing and he said that he could not comment because guides are to be impartial, killing anyone is terrible and never calls for someone to be impartial . We were very disappointed as we did not see much of a Jewish area or a temple or history. Also have guides that are more knowledgeable about problems that the Jews dealt with. That was part of Portugal history, not taking sides, really?. That is explaining what happened to the Jewish people. He did tell the history of some of the churches but not sure why on a Jewish tour. We already knew the Porto had a lot of churches but were on a Jewish Tour. We went with this tour and requested a specific guide that was not Jewish but he was not available who we were told did a great tour but for us this was not good. For us this was a waste of our time, and money. Not happy and would not recommend to friends coming to Porto. Please do a better job picking guides.
Hello Morrie, we were waiting for your review because the moment the guide finished the tour he sent a message saying how difficult it was doing the tour not because he doesn´t know what he was doing (he does this tours for quite some time and never had a review below 4stars) but do to the fact that the customers were difficult and I could mention a lot of things said during the tour that have nothing to do with the jewish heritage we have in Porto. Guides are to be impartial and no one is taking sides in anything as you might understand and realize. We are sorry that the tour didn´t happen as you might thought and there were no special requirements for a specific guide as you mention above. It's never a waste of time or even money to discover the history of Judaism in Porto :)
We had a wonderful Jewish walking tour with Ricardo, our guide. I was concerned because I have multiple sclerosis with associated heat intolerance, and it was 89 degrees. However, we stuck to the shadows as much as possible, and we made frequent stops. It was very interesting, and we learned a lot. We saw the Aron Hakhodesh from a secret synagogue. It was a terrific tour. I highly recommend it!
Thank you so much for your review. It was lovely receiving you in Porto and show (even under hot sun) the Jewish heritage in our city. All the best for you and family.
Very informative. Our tour guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information..
Hello Avinoam. thank you so much for your comment. It was lovely receiving you in Porto and show our jewish heritage. all the best.
Very interesting and informative. The guide had so much information and pictures. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.
Ricardo was our guide. Unbelievably knowledgeable and funny as hell! His wealth of knowledge and depth of experience was truly amazing. And he is only 23! He was able to "read" the crowd and paced the walking perfectly for all of us. I never had to think about needing a rest because Ricardo had planned the stops from walking perfectly. Efun was fantastic. We made an error and missed our original booking date and they arranged the tour for us the following day. Our only issue was the meeting point address info. We were provided an address which was wrong and had to frrantically jump into a cab to get to the correct place. Not sure if this caused by the booking company or Efun, but I refuse to place the blame on Efun because they were so great to work with. If you want to see and learn about the 1000 year history of Jews in Porto, take this tour, book with Efun and ask for Ricardo.
It was a wonderful tour. Our guide, Ricardo, was outstanding! He provided a wealth of information and knowledge.
