My husband and I visited 4 local restaurants in Edinburgh with our guide , Isobel from Eat Walk Tours . We visited a whiskey club ( which we enjoyed even though neither of us drink whiskey !) where we were served haggis which was very tasty . We then visited 2 restaurants where we ate scotch eggs and the local Cullen skink respectively…also very good . The last restaurant had more of a modern vibe where we indulged in sticky toffee pud- and who doesn’t like sticky toffee ! Isobel is a lovely young lady who was able to provide us with a knowledgeable and entertaining background to Edinburgh’s history and local cuisine …thanks Isobel for a fab afternoon Andrea and Ken (Australia)
Tamara was an exceptional tour guide. We greatly enjoyed our evening and found the food selections to be a perfect combination of sweet, savory and delicious. Each course and location was hyper local, well prepared and plated, reflective of the culture and absolutely wonderful. Each location was chic and fun; the service was grand. Tamara was fantastic! Her engaging approach, thoughtful attention to detail and interesting facts made for a fun and fabulous night.

Outstanding host, excellent food, and even better stories and information about the area!! Our host (Tom) was exceptionally versed in many different facets of the area, and provided some very interesting information. Tom was very friendly and had some of the best facts and stories about the local area that we have ever experienced anywhere. The food was truly outstanding and there is nothing that I would change about our experience.

Our guide Wag was excellent. Great source of Edinburgh history. Food was great, portions sizable. They will customize based on your suggestions. Beverages are also sample sized. Would have preferred the ability to purchase even a regular glass of wine while eating. Overall, was very expensive but good food and Wag was the highlight.

We did a tour in Edinburgh with Wag. He is absolutely amazing. I can’t tell you how incredibly knowledgeable he is about well, everything. He is like a walking encyclopedia and fills in the gaps with fun tid bits and curtails the experience to your interests. My husband and I were with our 17 year old and he pulled him in and gave him fun facts that teens enjoy. Sara was also so helpful. We had to reschedule due to the fire at London Heathrow. We were 3 days delayed, but she worked to make happen for our new schedule. Amazing experience.
Thank you, Elli, for sharing your wonderful experience! We're thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the private food tour in Edinburgh with Wag and appreciated his incredible knowledge and personalised approach. It’s great that he made the tour engaging for your whole family, including your teen! We're also glad Sara could assist with rescheduling smoothly despite the unexpected delay. Your kind words mean so much, and we’re delighted the tour made your visit memorable!
If you’re lucky enough to get Wag as your guide you’ll know you’re in for a good time. A thoroughly knowledgeable guide, along with a good sense of humor, Wag kept us entertained. A special request to visit an authentic pub took us to The Oxford where famous writers can sometimes be seen. Great little cafes with authentic Scottish dishes with just enough beer to wash it down made for a wonderful experience and a great tour!
Thank you so much, Mary Ann! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic time on the food tour and enjoyed the authentic Scottish dishes and pubs. Wag will be delighted to know you appreciated his humour and knowledge—it sounds like he made the experience extra special! It’s great that you got to visit unique spots like The Oxford, too. We hope to see you on another foodie adventure soon!
Everything about our tour was perfect! To begin, Wag — our guide, was wonderfully nice, extremely knowledgeable, and able to answer the questions we had about the food and Edinburgh. The pace between walking and eating/drinking at the next establishment made for an easy stroll and provided time to learn about the city in between the food and drink. The tour was the favorite thing we did on our trip and it was worth every cent. Sara reached out to us to provide information shortly after booking the tour and we felt we were in good hands from the start. Finally, make sure to try the haggis — you won’t regret it!
Thank you, Cara! We're happy to hear you had such a wonderful time on our Edinburgh food tour. Wag and Sara will be delighted to hear your kind words. We're glad the pace and mix of food and drink made for a memorable experience. And yes, haggis is a must-try! We hope to see you on another tour soon—perhaps in Glasgow for more Scottish food adventures!
