O Audain Art Museum foi inaugurado em 2016 e foi fundado pelo construtor de casas e filantropo de Vancouver Michael Audain e sua esposa Yoshiko Karasawa. A estrutura certificada pela LEED, com 56.000 pés quadrados, está localizada em Whistler, na Colúmbia Britânica, e foi projetada pelo premiado escritório de arquitetura Patkau Architects. A coleção permanente do museu mostra a arte da Colúmbia Britânica do final do século XVIII até o presente. Ancorando a coleção está The Dance Screen de James Hart (The Scream Too), a tela de dança de cedro esculpida contemporânea mais importante do mundo. Outros destaques incluem uma importante coleção de máscaras das primeiras nações do século 19 e 20 e obras de alguns dos artistas mais célebres do Canadá, incluindo Emily Carr, EJ Hughes e os foto-conceituados internacionalmente Jeff Wall e Stan Douglas. This was a wonderful unexpected surprise this gem of a museum has some fantastic art from Matisse, Picasso and local artist Emily Carr. I particularly liked seeing the photography too, particularly Ansel Adams. The entire museum including its stunning architecture is a must see.

With my 16-year-old daughter we spent 2.5 hours in the very beautiful architectural special museum that specializes in West Coast artists, first nation, painting, photography. Overall very diverse! Shop offers a wide range. No cafe.
Great art gallery / museum. On the smaller side, but a great chance to see beautiful Canadian works of art over this and the last Century and also masks and sculpture by first world people.
The Audain Museum was one of the highlights of our Whistler trip. Well worth the cost of admission and time required.
In stark contrast to Whistlers sporting fame, the gallery offers a contrast of pace and mood. A divers collection with something for everyone.
This was a beautiful gallery to visit. The art was all different, and well displayed, and it felt like each room had a surprise in it. Its right in the centre of Whistler so it was a good way to escape the heat and smoke.
Just the exterior itself is an architectural marvel and masterpiece. The exhibits inside are also just as exquisite. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Whistler especially during the summer season as the weather is warm and inviting. Love that this museum showcases the works of prominent Canadian artists!
