Excellent dive shop with attention to safety and fun! Renter equipment was well maintained and worked great.
Great dive experience with a good bunch of dive instructors! I hadn’t dived for some time so I was well looked after by Lisa ( who was patient with me throughout the dive ) . Visibility was not great but we still saw sting rays and groupers. This dive operator took care of all prep and post dive matters. Safe, reliable and fun. 😀
Unfortunately, the diving school was very unprofessional and not worthy of the Padi organization. Upon entering you are greeted briefly but otherwise the communication is very poor. Fortunately, they do check whether you are in possession of a license but not whether you have a diving medical examination or something in that direction. However, you must sign a form stating that you are responsible for your own safety and not your instructor or divemaster. The diving gear is outdated, suits smell bad and there are only wetsuits for men. That's why my fiancé couldn't get her suit on and had to squeeze in. The other diving equipment will be assembled for you and set up on a small boat. You don’t actually get the chance to check your equipment and certainly no buddy check is done before diving. The briefing was brief but not powerful. We were told where we were going and what you can possibly see. But once on the way, the dive site changed and nothing more was right from the briefing. There were 3 boys who went diving for the first time after their open water and also for the first time in the sea and with currents. The dive started VERY chaotic, the boys did not know what to do, buoyancy failed and they swam in all directions. The divemaster had not instructed them properly and that was clearly visible during the dive. The divemaster could not control the boys during the dive and they also ran out of air very quickly. Also the boys had not been given a dive computer and went to different depths which in my opinion was not safe. What the divemaster was good at was finding animals and pointing things out. But what I hated is that she started touching all the animals too! This was not only picking up starfish and sea urchins but also catching playing with and passing pipefish and other animals. This is absolutely not right. At the end of the dive we had to go up by the divemaster but we did not do that because we were going to do our 3 min safety stop. This is something she didn't do with the other guys. After the dive it was back to the dive school, hand in stuff and gone. There was no debrief or thank you kindly. They said bye but that was it. It was not a pleasant experience
Hello, It's always unpleasant to receive such comments, but it's certainly necessary to clarify: We always strive to make our customers feel at home when they arrive at the dive center, but we also try to respect introverted and shy individuals. We check the diving certifications, but we do not require medical certificates, as they are not mandatory in Italy at the moment. We have a form drafted by PADI that is based on European Community laws. The PADI OWD certification trains divers to be autonomous, yet our Divemasters and Instructors are always attentive to the skills of the divers they accompany in the water, as you can read in the reviews. In any group activity, despite efforts to create homogeneous groups, it can happen that someone is limited by others. For this reason, our groups are limited to a maximum of 5 divers. From our perspective, in keeping with the love and spirit of diving, more experienced divers should show patience toward those with less experience. If some require more attention, it would be courteous for the more experienced divers to be understanding. That said, we offer the option of a private guide (with an additional charge, of course). We are an Aqualung-sponsored dive center, and our equipment is modern, with a maximum of 2 years in use. Our wetsuits are washed and disinfected after every use. The worst that can happen is that they might remain damp on bad weather days. There are women-specific wetsuits, but in general, wetsuits are unisex. No woman would have an issue wearing a men's wetsuit, and vice versa. We have wetsuits in all sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, ML, L, XL, XXL, XXXL. If a wetsuit doesn’t fit well, just ask for another size. The appointment at the dive center is set 45 minutes before departure, and wetsuits are tried on for these kinds of reasons. We assemble BCDs and regulators for customers as an added service, and we always ask customers to check their equipment. You are certified divers and were diving as a buddy pair. Surely no one prevented you from doing a pre-check, and in any case, before entering the water, the staff checked the tank, regulator, and BCD. Our boats are 9 meters and 8 meters long (both certified for 18 divers), powered by 300HP engines. We load a maximum of 12 divers. From experience, overly long briefings can become boring for most, but safety information is always repeated. Of course, our staff is extremely available to any customer who requests further clarification or more detailed information. Safety and customer satisfaction are fundamental in choosing dive sites. If we decide to change the dive site, even traveling to more distant locations, there are valid reasons: rough seas, poor visibility, excessive boat traffic, or the overall confidence level of the divers. People often love to touch animals, which is not ethically correct. The guide mistakenly thought this would be appreciated and was wrong. She has been reprimanded for this. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. "Leave only bubbles" is correct! It's good to do a safety stop, but if you're diving for 45 minutes with a maximum depth of 18 meters and the last 15 minutes are spent between 10 and 5 meters, there is no need to remain still for three minutes at 5 meters. Just read the manuals carefully or take a look at the PADI tables. The return phase is often hectic for the staff, and during the first few minutes, there are mandatory tasks to perform. After customers have had their showers, the instructors are always available to help fill out logbooks and offer advice. The office at the dive center is always fully available to you.
The staff was all wonderful and Victoria our scuba guide was fantastic. They set up our equipment and did a great job on the boat. There wasn’t much to see during the dives so that part would get 3 stars. The staff makes the review 5 star!!
Our two dives were great! The club is very nice, and our guide had a lot of knowledge about the place. The diving in Santa Croce was magnificent. We were able to dive into schools of fish and between rocks filled with gorgonians... Thank you to our guide Gianluigi, Roberta and the whole team for welcoming us with good humor for this very nice experience!
I took my three upper teenage kids, who had only been on a few lake dives post-certification, so they're fairly new to this sport that I've enjoyed for decades. We arrived late since we missed the first bus from Amalfi, but they graciously waited for our arrival and outfitted us with equipment we needed. Our dive guide, Alessandra, was exceptional at getting us all ready and explaining safety aspects as well as what to expect on the dives. Both dives were breathtaking, with large schools of barracuda, a couple of eels, several starfish, lionfish, and other beautiful species of flora and fauna, and even an octopus and the "Praying Mary" statue. A great time was had by all. Highly recommend.
I highly highly recommend Punta Campanella for Scuba diving. My diving instructor was Robi. It had been several months since my previous dive and Robi was really great at reviewing signs and techniques of diving and refreshing my knowledge about the safety aspects of scuba diving. And then when we went out, she was very attentive to during our dive. The dive lasted about 40 minutes and all along the way Robi was checking in with me on my air supply and how I was doing and she took me to different levels of diving and showing me things. I can’t recommend them highly enough and I hope you have a great adventure when you sign up with them.
