A nice tour of the island with a variety of interesting stops and tastings. My only recommendation would be to eliminate the last stop at the candy shop and spend more time at the other locations.
Guide was great and an important part of making the tour so enjoyable. He was helpful and most helpful. The stops were great. Ready to receive the group and most welcoming. No pressure to purchase their goods but just couldn't resist. Everything was delicious.
This tour was really fun. The apple butter at the cider place was amazing! I could’ve done without the nougat place though. Our guide was really great, and we really appreciated that he had a cooler full of water bottles for us in the bus. I would definitely do it again.
This was a wonderful way to learn more about the whole area! Peter was phenomenal! He was a New Jersey native who has lived in Quebec for more than 30 years so his perspective was unique! We loved each of the stops- this tour could be longer!
We had a wonderful tour of Île d’Orléans! Peter was our guide and driver, and he made the experience even more special because he actually lives on the island. His local knowledge gave us a much better feel for the history, people, and beauty of Île d’Orléans. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour relaxed and enjoyable. We highly recommend Peter and this tour to anyone visiting
Had a great day visiting the Island of Orleans. The food tastings also included a description of the products and a history of the business by the owner. The pace of the tour was excellent because we also had time to shop at the different venues. The company was very accommodating because at the last minute I had to change our time and I was able to make the change. Fun experience.
Due to previous reviews, I was hesitant to take this tour. Endied up having a delightful time. Peter, our guide spoke loud and clear, no trouble hearing. He gave us a very informative tour. Lovely stops on the Island. Winery was my favorite stop. Highly recommend this trip.
I had a great time! It was nice to get around the island with a house who lives on the island itself. The guide was fun and knowledge. The tasting was nice. The locations are beautiful.
The guide and the bus were great and the tour of Orleans was beautiful. The tastings, at different locations, were for vinegar, wine, hard cider and nougat. The local owners of each were friendly and educational. But there is no actual food on the tour, which was disappointing, especially for the price.
Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the guide, the bus, the beautiful scenery, and meeting our local producers. We’d just like to clarify that this experience is designed as a discovery and tasting tour, with small samples of locally made products at each stop. It is not intended to be a restaurant or meal-based food tour, but rather an introduction to the producers, flavors, and specialties of Île d’Orléans. We appreciate your feedback and hope you still enjoyed discovering the island! 😊🍎🍷🌿
Overall, we enjoyed our trip to Île d’Orléans and thought it was a lovely way to see the island. The itinerary was good and we were glad we went. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by our driver/guide and by how small some of the advertised tastings were. Our biggest disappointment was the driver/guide. He spoke so quietly and mumbled so much that we literally heard nothing of the commentary about the island. This wasn’t just us. On three separate occasions passengers asked him either to speak louder or to turn up the microphone, but unfortunately nothing changed. We therefore came away having visited Île d’Orléans but having learnt virtually nothing about it, which is a great shame when you have specifically booked a guided tour. There was also bottled water on the coach, but this wasn’t mentioned or offered. At one point another passenger actually asked the driver where they could buy water, despite water apparently being available on the coach. The four stops themselves were a mixed experience. The vinegar tasting consisted of only a couple of drops of each vinegar from a pipette. The products were interesting, but such tiny quantities made it difficult to regard it as a proper tasting. The wine tasting was easily the best stop. The tasting portions were much more appropriate, and there was the option to buy a cheese and fruit platter and enjoy it outside on the wooden benches. We really enjoyed this stop. The cider stop was quite rushed and the tastings were again extremely small, served in little plastic cups. Finally, at the nougat shop, the three samples were also very, very small and we were shown a video about the business. Almost everyone seemed to buy nougat afterwards, so this is clearly a successful stop commercially. Given that, I think they could afford to be a little more generous with the tasting portions. Taking everything into account, I would give our particular experience 3/5. Had we actually been able to hear the driver/guide and learn something about the island, I would have given it 4/5, and with proper tasting portions at all four stops, it could easily have been a 5/5 experience. The tour itself is a very good idea and Île d’Orléans is well worth visiting. With a guide who communicates clearly with his passengers and slightly more generous tastings, this could be an excellent tour. I think “we came away having visited Île d’Orléans but having learnt virtually nothing about it” is particularly important. That’s the real failure when they’re selling a guided tour.
Thank you, Christina, for taking the time to provide such detailed and constructive feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed Île d’Orléans and the overall itinerary, but we sincerely apologize that the guided portion did not meet expectations. We completely understand your point: on a guided tour, guests should leave having learned about the island, and if the commentary cannot be heard, we have not fully delivered that experience. We have taken your comments regarding the guide’s volume, communication and the availability of bottled water seriously and will address them with our team. We will also share your feedback about tasting portions with our local partners. We truly appreciate the balanced way you presented both the positives and areas for improvement. Feedback like yours helps us identify exactly where we need to do better.
