We were so disappointed with our visit to The Vessel. We had to pay 15 dollars each to climb steps to the top but half of the building was chained off with no indication as to the route to take! We started off and then had to go back to the start when our route was blocked. When we finally got to the top only five minutes later it was on the opposite side to the Hudson River and almost impossible to take a clear photo. Why weren’t we informed about this when purchasing these absorbently priced tickets. No concessions for seniors either. The actual High Line walk was fine and no charge! Don’t bother with The Vessel it isn’t worth the cost.
It is a very pleasant region to visit, especially with the Christmas lighting and the reopening of the Vessel. The only warning is that the cold in this region is much more intense due to the Hudson.
This was an awesome experience. Darius is very passionate and knowledgeable. His historic knowledge made the experience come to life. Strongly recommend this tour, especially if Darius is your guide.
We could only view this from the outside as it was closed. My wife was uninspired but I thought it was great. Looks like a spaceship has just landed in middle of NYC.
I didn’t have an experience I showed up and waited for the tour to begin and no tour guide came I couldn’t get in touch at first and finally a half hour later someone called me and told me that they canceled the tour because they weren’t enough people but no one contacted me my friend came into the city to meet me and I traveled five hours to get there. I’m expecting a refund on my credit card and I also ask them for compensation in a financial apology because that was disgraceful.
A great new addition to New York skyline Make sure you preorder your tickets online, they are free Give yourself an hour to enjoy, pick a warm day wear comfortable shoes
While visiting the Hudson Yards we came upon "The Vessel". It is an amazing architectural structure! In my opinion the best time to visit is at night when it is illuminated.Be sure to climb all the way up (9 floors) to take in the amazing views of the city, rail road yard and New Jersey. Well worth the time to see.......
New Eco district, the Vessel is located at the beginning of the High Line (walk to finish with the Chelsea Market, very nice). Be careful if you schedule a chronological day, to get on the Vessel (and to do, very nice photo) you have to book a time slot via a terminal, we lost 2 hours 😡 yet we were there at 10am
Anyone going to Manhattan needs to chill at some point so grab a snack and a coffee from Chelsea Market and go walk this area. Peaceful with views of the East River. Landscape was in winter mode but we can imagine the flowers and shrubbery in bloom. Well worth the hour walk. Personally, I recommend walking south to north only because of the availability of food at the south end.
The Vessel is a unique structure that is easy to navigate. There is a landing on each level, so one can rest, take in the beautiful views of ferry boats on the Hudson River and turn in opposite direction and see skyscrapers including the Empire State Building. The vessel is free- easy to reserve for specific times on line. I went three times and the number of people entering at one time is limited. The courtyard has three dimensional games for kids, e.g. Minecraft. Adjacent to the Vessel is a beautiful shopping center with shops of varying prices! Even if you are not a shopper, one can sightsee, especially at the holiday season. The restaurants are expensive; however, you can buy food for snack or lunch at Citarella and take out. There are delicious places serving coffee and unusual pastries. In addition, it is easily accessible with the #7 train. Take your kids and go!!!
