Jr. the toyr guide was amazing. The tubing, horses and ruins were amazing. I recommend not using Viator, instead book yourself through a vendor. I called Viator due to bad reception and booked with an agent. I used my phone to pay but didn't see the details and extra fees. The vendor was excellent!!!
Elvin was great. Funny and engaging. He did a great job mixing history with his own personal narrative which gave the tour a tailor-made feel. Up Close Belize did a great job coordinating our travel to and from San Pedro and Elvin even got us on an earlier flight back!
Elvin made our day and everything we did perfect! Our excursion was supposed to be with another couple, but they missed the boat, so we had the whole day to ourselves. Elvin was incredibly personable and full of knowledge about his land. We loved learning about the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha and the cave tubing was amazing! I will absolutely be returning for another tour, hopefully with Elvin🤩
Unique experience, glad we did tubes, our guide swam us through when no current, water comfortable temperature, always felt safe.
I’ll start with my favorite part of this day: cave tubing! We did not do the kayak upgrade & would not recommend doing so, as it would distract you from time viewing in every direction. Our tour guide, George “of the jungle” for this day absolutely made the day & is the sole reason for the 5 stars. We were a small group, which we decided was much better than a large van or bus full sized group. George was very knowledgeable about every tree in the forest, including ones that cause a rash or illness, as well as the ones that cure ailments. George added some extra adventures during our cave tube experience which were above & beyond what we were expecting! The Altun Ha Mayan ruins were also very interesting & we were glad we got to experience that. We were pleasantly surprised that we actually got to climb up to the top of the structures. What views! Of course, there were a lot of vendors selling their wares after the tour, so have some cash with you if you want souvenirs or snacks. There is a lot of travel time in the vehicle, so be aware of that, especially if you’re staying on Ambergris or Caye Caulker. It is a full day, but we were very happy we had the enjoyable experience.
Our tour was Fantastic. Our host whose nickname was Gringo was very knowledgeable and super friendly. We had an amazing time touring the ruin and on our river adventure was magical.
Elvin was an amazing guide who was very knowledgeable. There was a hidden fee of $17 per per person in addition to $10 to get into the park plus the cost of lunch. We couldn’t kayak because of weather, but that would have been an additional $15. Great experience but there are definitely several additional costs.
Elvin was hands down the best tour guide I have ever had, and the tour was beyond memorable. Elvin shared incredible knowledge about Mayan culture, biology and ecology, botany, medicine, archaeology, local culture, and so much more! I was so impressed by his versatility. But this was not even the best part; Elvin was clearly so passionate about his work which made the rest of us even more excited for all of the cool stuff. He took an extra 2-3 hours out of his day to extend our tour (with everyone’s permission) so that we could see things that most tourists do not get a chance to experience. He was friendly, accommodating, and took great care of us, always asking if anyone needed anything. We got to see monkeys, fighting iguanas, and other crazy things. I cannot recommend this tour and Melvin enough!
We had such a great time in this tour! The Mayan ruins were fascinating and the cave tubing was so much fun. Each activity was the perfect length. Our incredible guide, Elvin, elevated the experience even more. He was amazing at his job and went above and beyond. Highly this trip, and Elvin as a guide.
Our tour guide Elvin and our driver Mike were both great! Amazing day, highly recommend and go for the kayaking!!
