Peter was a fantastic guide. We were picked up at our hotel on time. He was able to answer alot of questions about Hungarian culture and history. First stop was Eger castle. Spent about an hour. If we are able to return, we’ll plan for a longer visit. We stopped by a beautiful church in the town. Next stop was Holloko. We found it charming and enjoyed walking around and visiting the unique craft stores. We enjoyed just driving thru the beautiful Hungarian countryside. It was a great way to spend the day outside of Budapest.
Nice escape from Budapest for day to see two different small towns. Peter, our guide, was knowledgeable and a great driver.
The excursion is great combination of the UNESCO site Holloko and we had 2 hours in Eger . We spent 1.5 hours at the castle and some time walking in the old town before returning to Budapest. We really enjoyed our day. Our guide Richard was excellent and his driving was also excellent.
Thank you very much for exploring Hungary with us :)
Well preserved village but too bad that cars can travel within it. I don't know if it deserves to be classified as UNESCO.
Thank you very much for you super high quality content review.
Really interesting tour . Peter was amazing tour guide . Very nice day trip. Nice hand made articles at Hillokoa
Thank you very much for exploring Hungary with us :)
Disappointing. The sites are great to visit, but the tour didn’t deliver on what we paid for. It clearly said 1h at the village, 2h at the castle. Our guide kept rushing us, we had 30min at the village, and he wanted us to do the castle visit in 30min only. We had to argue and rush everything to get it done in 1h10, while there were clearly more things to see. This constant stress and pressure made the overall experience very unpleasant. The car used was not the one showed on the picture, the pick up time was not what was shown on Trip Advisor, we took wrong directions during the trip… All this would have been fine, not a big deal, but added to the fact we didn’t have the time to do the visits we paid for, this was an extremely disappointing and stressful tour.
We are sorry for your disappointment. All other travellers were satisfied in their reviews about this tour. Let me reply to your troubles. According to our guide you were 20 minutes late from the pickup. I could see the parking ticket about the time you spent in the village museum it was definitely more than 30 minutes almost an hour. Since the total driving time is 5 hours of a 7 hours tour your overall time in Eger town and Hollókő is cca 2 hour altogether and not 2 hours in the castle. Our guides are also people with families and working hours, there is an agenda to keep up to. We are terribly sorry for providing a car which was not amongst the photos. Sorry for your inconvenience.
Absolutely loved this tour! Peter, our tour guide explained the history of the castle and Holloko very well. We had a lovely authentic lunch at a family-owned restaurant that made you feel you were eating a meal that people 300 years ago were eating. Eger castle was a great walk thru in time. A must do tour!
Thank you very much for exploring Hungary with us :)
We had a wonderful day traveling in the countryside with our amazing driver and guide, Peter! I cannot say enough great things about him and the experience. The sites we visited were very interesting and made better by the knowledge of Peter. Conversation on the drive was great to gain amazing local perspective. Truly a treat! Thanks again! We’ll be back!
Thank you very much for exploring Hungary with us :)
Not good. Car broke down after only 20 minutes. Driver was good, but lost a day's worth of vacation.
The tour was excellent! Richard was a great guide and picked us up right from our hotel. Hollókő and Eger were great, the castle and town were beautiful, and we were able to find some nice things in the shops. We definitely recommend the tour and plan to take the tour again in the summer when the village is more active. Great experience overall.
