Partindo de Auckland às 7 da manhã, você fará uma agradável viagem de carro ao sul, em direção às colinas de Bombaim, até a rica fazenda leiteira do Waikato, depois virar para o leste. Uma pequena parada em uma vista elevada sobre as planícies de Hauraki, com a distância da Kaimai Coromandel, faz uma ótima foto de grupo.
É tudo plano atravessar as planícies através das terras agrícolas até uma fábrica de laticínios em desuso para uma pausa para café / chá. Apenas alguns minutos abaixo da estrada é o centro de informações em Matamata, que se assemelha a uma casa de hobbit. Aqui você pode fazer uma pose com a estátua de Gollum.
Não muito longe de Hobbiton, onde seu guia local irá acompanhá-lo ao redor do set de filmagem, contendo 44 buracos hobbit, a casa de Bilbo - Bag End, o Mill, a ponte de arco duplo e a árvore de festa. Ao concluir no Green Dragon, desfrute de uma cerveja de cortesia, cidra ou cerveja de gengibre não alcoólica, enquanto se embebe na atmosfera. Um buffet de almoço segue no Party Marquee, ao lado do Green Dragon.
Partindo de Hobbiton, nosso próximo destino é o Lago Karapiro e a usina hidrelétrica no rio Waikato para uma parada fotográfica, antes de cruzar a represa. O majestoso 797m Mt Maungatautari (Sanctuary Mountain) aparece no fundo.
Fazendas mais onduladas à medida que você viaja pela pequena cidade rural da Nova Zelândia e pelo "País do Rei", em homenagem ao Kīngitanga (Movimento Maori King) e seus seguidores durante as Guerras da Nova Zelândia da década de 1860. Em Waitomo durante o seu passeio guiado de 45 minutos pela caverna, você testemunhará as constelações de pequenos minhocas brilhantes, sua magnífica catedral e as estalagmites e estalactites intrigantes, antes de sair desta gruta de calcário de barco.

We were thoroughly entertained by our guide Danilo as we wandered around Hobiton. The village itself is an amazing example of imagination and ingenuity. I really loved this place which captured the feeling and tone of scenes from the movies. The video messages seen in the bus to and from really introduced the fondness Jackson has for his country. Well worth the visit.
A great tour would advise everyone to visit this place it is a great day out also called at rotarua hot spring where the meal was cooked in front of you by a moaria lady
Keith was on time to pick us up from our hotel. We were quickly on our way to the attractions that we were interested seeing. We traveled in his Jaguar which was comfortable and pleasant. Keith told us about the areas we drove through, but left the information on Hobbiton and Waitomo to the local guides. I thought we were going to be in a small group tour with others and commentary on where we were going and what we would see, so I was surprised that it was just the two of us with a private driver, not really a tour. We have no complaints about the day, we just were expecting something different. We would recommend Keith to anyone who wanted a private driver. He was kind, courteous, thoughtful and professional. Just be aware of what you are reserving.
