A group of 50 Chiropractors, Members of the British Chiropractic Association, met for the Activity Event of the Year, a hike to watch the sun setting at the summit of Yr Wyddfa. Two were student members and I was the oldest, at almost 80 years, and still enjoying my vocation of almost 50 years, so a range of fit young professionals contrasting with more elderly seniors, this one with a new hip and a new knee. MountainXperience founder, Simon, gave us a thoroughly professional briefing and introduced us to the other guide members, each of whom would spread evenly through our pack ensuring we were discretely observed - I had done the route with my son a fortnight earlier to make sure I could do it at my age, but this time I had the confidence of experienced guides keeping me safe at all times. I'm not a hiker or mountaineer and, although I ascended Yr Wyddfa some 46 years ago, all I had was six months walking a minimum of 3 miles a day in the Wiltshire countryside and Westbury downs. Not surprisingly I was a bit of a laggard, but there would be a guide at hand to suggest easier ascents and another ready to hold my hiking poles as I hauled myself up the Pyg Track zig zags. I had managed to gain 45 minutes on my recent experience but was pretty tired as I touched the toposcope. Descending in the dark with head torches on the simpler but much longer Llanberis Path challenged my reserves, with three of the eight or nine wonderful guides watching over us at the back of the pack. As our 50 members spread out into smaller groups so more guides were brought forward to ensure that none of us were being neglected. A couple of my colleagues hung back to watch over the old man but our group of now three chiropractors was blessed by having the warm, generous, experienced ex soldier & ex policeman Andy, a volunteer warden on Yr Wyddfa in his spare time, to watch over me and, when my rainproof over-trousers started slipping, he even unstrapped and looped his own belt through mine to save my embarrassment. Early on our descent Andy brought out a full Haribo pack from his pocket and these gradually found their way into our mouths by the time we reached the Victoria Hotel at the bottom - being conscious of my patients' lifestyles, Haribos are things I turn my back on but Andy has caused me to throw my prejudice to the wind. When we hit the tarmac road, probably half an hour behind the previous group, there was the compassionate, considerate Simon in his car offering to take us to the hotel, a generous proposition that I felt compelled to refuse for the sake of my younger 49 colleagues who had put up with the old laggard and made it on their own all the way.
Our amazing tour Gide David was informative and helpful. Good fun and high energy. Most importantly kept the moral going when the climb was more challenging… really enjoyed the trip and being in a group supportive environment .
Thanks for the 5* Tripadvisor review! I'm really happy you had a great day on Snowdon with David. He's great isn't he! All the very best. Simon.
I joined a group as I'm not a hugely experienced walker and being on my own I wanted both the company and thought I may need the peer pressure to keep going to the top. Both worked out excellently as we managed to get to the summit on quite a hot day. We thankfully took a number of little breaks on the way up, and in truth I may have turned back at some points if it weren’t for Andy our guide and the rest of the lovely group. Andy met us at the Snowdon Train Station and explained the day to us before we started. The train passed us a number of times during the ascent. It took about 3.5 hours to get to the top but of course it's rather quicker coming back down. I'm very glad I did it, as like many it’s been a bucket list thing for me to do. I’m in my 60s and not particularly fit, but I managed the climb without too many problems on a hot day, so as long as you take it at a sensible pace, which Andy made sure we did, most people should be able to make it to the top, and the day we did it the views certainly made it worth it.
Thanks for the fab 5* review Paul. I'm glad you got to tick Snowdon off your bucket list and that you felt so well looked after by Andy. All the best. Simon.
I wanted to hike Snowdon but didn't want to go alone, so I booked this tour. It was a great experience! Our guide Andy was very knowledgeable and tweaked the hike to our fitness level or any injuries. He also offered opportunities to take breaks. Total time was 7 hours but this varies depending on the group and weather conditions. I would definitely repeat the experience.
Thanks for the lovely review Maria! I'm so pleased you enjoyed your Snowdon Summit day with Andy. He's the best isn't he! Hope to see you in the mountains again soon. Simon.
We had the absolute best time on our trip. Andy our guide was fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly and made us feel comfortable. He was brilliant with our children, really cheering/encouraging them along the way (which was needed at points). Would 100% book again. Andy really helped make it a special trip. Thank you!!!

Thanks Mark for leading our group safely up and down Snowdon today. I met a group of lovely ladies and Mark took good care of us all to ensure we went at a pace suitable for everyone in the group. We went off the track to avoid the crowds which was a nice surprise. Lots of fun and highly recommended. Everything went perfectly 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
