Após 20 anos fotografando e observando os padrões comportamentais das Baleias Francas Austrais que visitam Walker Bay anualmente, considero-me um especialista em comportamento de baleias e Ofereço uma experiência única e interativa de observação de baleias em terra, que inclui o compartilhamento de conhecimento e histórias pessoais que abrangem mais de duas décadas. Durante meu tempo fotografando esses mamíferos espetaculares, tornou-se um sonho meu publicar um livro fotográfico de mesa. Tenho o prazer de dizer que a 2ª edição, Hermanus Whales, the Journey Continues, está disponível diretamente comigo e em lojas selecionadas em Hermanus. Estou ansioso para conhecê-lo e compartilhar meu conhecimento e paixão sobre os SRW e a cidade em que moro.

Introdução às Baleias Francas Austral e Hermanus A visita ao museu é para familiarizar os clientes com a baleia franca austral, informações sobre seu tamanho, comprimento e peso. Digo a eles a conexão/sinergia que existe entre as baleias e Hermanus. Falo sobre os dias da caça às baleias e o impacto que isso teve sobre eles e como quase levou ao seu fim. O passeio segue o belo caminho do penhasco em frente à cidade a uma altitude de cerca de 15 metros acima do oceano. Esta elevação presta-se a ter uma excelente vista sobre a baía. O que as pessoas não percebem é que a profundidade do oceano imediatamente abaixo das falésias é de cerca de 10 metros. Isso permite que as baleias se aproximem das rochas das falésias a uma distância praticamente tocante. As baleias são frequentemente vistas entre 50 e 300 metros da linha de costa.
Desfrute de uma caminhada de 2 horas ao longo do caminho do penhasco comigo. Conheço todos os locais secretos de observação de baleias. Conheço cada baleia intimamente. Vou explicar todas as informações relevantes da idade das baleias, comportamentos e melhor momento possível de uma violação para a melhor oportunidade fotográfica.

This is a long overdue review. Our tour with Dave was beyond amazing. It was the highlight of our trip to Hermanus. He is just so passionate and shares all his knowledge. He went above and beyond and drove for a long time to show us the whales. I could not recommend him more. My family and I were delighted to meet him, an absolute privilege.
Obviously knowledgeable and enthusiastic about whales. Unfortunately did not see a single whale on this afternoon trip though had seen a mother and calf in the same area in the morning. That’s nature.
Absolutely amazing experience! Dave is so passionate, knowledgable and friendly, and having a private tour like this makes all the difference. He took us to multiple locations and shared intimate knowledge of the whales and local area. We highly highly recommend!

The tour with Dave is definitely a highlight of our tour. Dave has decades of experience and deep knowledge of whales. He was patient and enthusiastic with all of the questions we had. We had a boat-based whale watching tour the next day, and still find the tour with Dave very helpful and necessary. His tour helped us build a strong foundation and understanding of these magnificent animals. Dave tried his best to ensure that we could see the whales in the best location. He drove us to the nearby towns to look for great locations, and we were able to watch several whales. Through Dave, we also learned a lot about the history and culture of Hermanus and the towns around. We cannot recommend Dave’s tour enough! Whether you have a boat tour planned or not, this trip is a must-do. Thank you, Dave, for such a memorable and insightful adventure!

Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to South Africa. Dave was knowledgable and enthusiastic. He found several whales for us including a mother and baby so close to the shore - mum put on a great display! A fantastic experience!
