O guia mostrará a orla marítima onde foram encontrados mais de 300 restos mortais de pessoas que tentavam escapar pelo mar, mas também a casa Samnita, os banhos termais, o Templo dos Augustales, o fórum, a casa de Netuno e Anfitrite, o Ginásio , a casa da divisória de madeira e muito mais. Você terá uma experiência intensa: poderá ver não só restos de pedra, mármore e cerâmica, mas também madeira carbonizada e pinturas e mosaicos ainda mais requintados do que em Pompeia. Herculano foi destruído por uma força muito mais poderosa que queimou instantaneamente toda a madeira e enterrou a cidade sob uma espessa camada que não deixava passar o ar e causava a decomposição.

O ponto de encontro é a bilheteria das ruínas de Herculano. Você pode chegar lá da seguinte maneira: - De carro na via Pignalver (existe um estacionamento não vigiado muito próximo do local de encontro) - De trem na Corso Resina 1 (a estação ferroviária Circumvesuviana fica a 10 minutos a pé)
A casa recebe o nome de estátuas de mármore de veados/veados encontradas no peristilo.
M. Nonius Balbus foi o maior benfeitor da cidade, restaurando e construindo muitos edifícios públicos. Ao morrer foi feito patrono e festejado com muitas honras, detalhadas na longa inscrição no seu altar funerário.
Pensa-se que o edifício foi centro de culto ao imperador Augusto e sede do Collegium Augustalium (ou possivelmente mesmo da cúria local).
A casa possivelmente pertenceu a um dos principais benfeitores da cidade, Marcus Nonius Balbus, e é um tanto incomum porque tem acesso privado às Termas Suburbanas adjacentes ao sul.
É uma casa muito importante porque a elegante divisória de madeira permaneceu.
A Casa do Esqueleto, provavelmente a agregação de três edifícios mais pequenos, deriva o seu nome da descoberta de restos humanos numa sala do segundo andar em 1831.
As Termas Centrais foram construídas por volta do início do século I dC e foram divididas, como era então prática comum, em banhos masculinos e femininos, cada um com entradas distintas.
A Casa do Salão Negro é uma das mansões mais luxuosas de Herculano. A casa tem uma entrada monumental que ainda conserva os restos carbonizados dos umbrais e do lintel.
A casa tem uma disposição típica dos samnitas (antigo povo da raça sabina que ocupava esta parte montanhosa do centro da Itália). O esplêndido átrio é contornado por uma galeria com colunas jônicas. Os quartos estão decorados com afrescos.
Esta é uma das casas mais originais de Herculano. Possui um pátio com escada e uma varanda de pedra em vez de átrio.
Bela domus no centro da área arqueológica, com vários ambientes, collonnati, afrescos e-com por toda parte em restos de peças de madeira carbonizados em Herculano.

- Os cães são permitidos no Parque Arqueológico Herculaneum sem restrições de raça ou tamanho, no entanto, eles devem ser mantidos em uma corda ou bochecha e é obrigatório ter sacos para coletar qualquer queda. I booked this tour with an archeologist for an expert's view of the remains of Herculaneum. The guide, Francesco, did NOT deliver. It was a hot August day (not a surprise, we all knew the weather) and I think he was just hot and tired. The group was split between 2 different guides, and I was unfortunately in the group with the weaker guide. I hope this review will help future participants. The tour started slightly late (10:38 instead of 10:30), and he started the tour in the 2 museums (with AC). That would have been better to save until the end, no? Then, he gave superficial explanations that are written on placards next to the displays. We didn't enter the archeological remains until 50 minutes into the 2 hour tour. Then, he continued slowly repeating useless comments like, "Look at the decorations, just like we see today!" He spoke a lot about Pompeii and didn't seem to know any in-depth archeological, historical or anecdotal facts about Herculaneum. I've been on MANY tours including with archeologists. Sadly, this was a waste of time and money. He ended the tour promptly at 12:30 telling us that we'd seen everything there was to see. Thankfully I didn't believe him. At the visitor center there is a 1 Euro audio guide and a free brochure for download. I returned to the ruins and did a more thorough exploration on my own. I must say, it was better than the tour with the "archeologist".

Amazing tour with Luciano. Incredibly knowledgeable and had a great way to bring stories to life and feel like you were immersed in the surroundings. A very well preserved site and an excellent way to understand the history of what happened here.
Our guide was knowlegeable and kept us interested and engaged throughout the tour. He answered questions and provided context and background for us to better understand the significance of what we saw. Very happy with the tour as well as the price!
Very positive experience. The archaeologist was tremendously knowledgeable. We learned so much, and while it was a hot day, we felt history came alive for us.
A nice experience with a good guide. More exciting than Pompeii. Worth a visit. Few tourists is a plus. A bit difficult with subway arrival unfortunately. This should be the preferred method of arrival but then the subway and info must be corrected
We booked our tour through Askos Tours. The meeting point was easily found as they sent us not only directions but a photo of it. Our guide, Luciano Leone, was absolutely exceptional! He made sure this wasn't a tour but a memorable, detailed, heartbreaking, living experience. You do have to have a quick pace to see everything on this tour but it was well worth it. So much of what was extricated was intact, it was unbelievable. The sight of the skeletons in the waterfront boathouses was heart-wrenching. We did this tour after seeing Pompeii (not the same day.) We are so glad we did both. Apples and Oranges. You cannot compare the two. You need to experience both.
WOW! What an amazing experience and wonderful tour. Our guide was Sergio and he is a real archiologist who has worked on digs here and in Pompeii. He explained so much about the history of the Romans who lived there when the volcano erupted, how is it very different from Pompeii, and he inlcuded a lot of information about the discovery of the site and how it was excavated. If you only think you want to see Pompeii, you are wrong. Add in Herculaneum. After the tour was over, we had time to go to the museum there and it had many things on display that Sergio told us about, so we understood the significance. We went in mid-May and we had a bit of rain, but carrying umbrellas served us well. This site has such wonderfully preserved lumber and frescos, so it is a real jewel and the tour guide made so much difference in our understanding of what we were seeing. Afterwards, we stopped at a hamburger joint. After 2 weeks in Italy, we were missing some American food and that hit the spot. It is between the site and the train station. The owner was so friendly!
Most interesting tour - lots of info and provided with earpiece to hear the guide. Small group. Thoroughly enjoyable morning - with be reading up on this. The guide is an experienced archeologist and we really felt we benefitted from his expertise.
The guide was very enthusiastic about the subject having worked on the site and Pompeii as well as other sites around the World. He explained the timeline of the eruption and the difference between the two sites. Well worth having a guide to show and explain things not in the standard guide book, but it was obvious that the whole site would take a great deal longer to look around and from the walkway above the site we saw there were many more buildings we hadn’t explored with Luciano. Would recommend getting on an early tour especially in the heat!! All in all very enjoyable and well worth the money, although I guess may depend which guide you get!!
