Este é um passeio a pé pela herança judaica no centro da cidade de Thessaloniki, onde a principal comunidade judaica viveu e trabalhou por séculos. Embora hoje em dia não se preservem muitos dos edifícios antigos, devido ao terrível incêndio de 1917 e às destruições da Segunda Guerra Mundial, a Comunidade Judaica de Thessaloniki inaugura os principais locais relacionados com o Património Judaico. Este passeio pode ser feito apenas pela manhã, quando os locais ficam abertos até as 14h - não aos sábados. Fique atento às mensagens de atualização do seu guia sobre os horários exatos. Um passeio mais longo também pode ser organizado mediante solicitação em transporte privado para ver o lado leste da cidade com as antigas vilas judaicas do início do século 20, o novo cemitério judeu no extremo oeste e também a antiga estação ferroviária, conhecida por a deportação do Holocausto de 50.000 judeus pelos nazistas em trens. As visitas ao Museu Judaico e à sinagoga requerem uma pré-reserva do seu guia, com nome completo, passaporte e nacionalidade a enviar com antecedência.

O Monastoriotes é a chamada "antiga" sinagoga da cidade, recentemente reformada e é visitada mediante solicitação e agendamento de seus guias para você, com detalhes do passaporte necessários para todos os visitantes. A taxa de admissão está incluída no bilhete combinado de 7 euros juntamente com a visita guiada ao museu judaico.

O famoso mercado coberto de Modiano de 1930 acaba de ser reformado e agora está aberto! Abriga muitas pequenas lojas de alimentos, em homenagem ao arquiteto da cidade, Eli Modiano.
O Museu Judaico de Salónica está alojado num edifício histórico. Veremos as exposições sobre o antigo cemitério judeu, roupas tradicionais e itens religiosos das antigas sinagogas e uma exposição de fotos sobre a história dos judeus na cidade desde a antiguidade até os tempos modernos. Você pode comprar livros e lembranças na pequena loja do museu. A taxa de admissão para o museu e a sinagoga é um bilhete combinado de 7 euros por pessoa.
O Memorial do Holocausto fica à beira-mar, na Praça da Liberdade. Você verá a escultura que representa o holocausto com sete chamas, na forma da Menorá e dos corpos humanos, criada por Nandor Glid em 1997. Você ouvirá sobre o dia do Black Sabbath, que aconteceu na mesma praça.

Efi was both a guide and a historian. She is dedicated to the survival of history. Within 5 months the Nazis deported almost 60,000 Jews to Aushwitz, wiping out more than 90% of Jews who had lived in Greece and Macedonia since biblical times. Efi is very knowledgable but it was a 3/hour recitation of facts and figures and buildings. Disappointed in lack of color, storytelling, charm, or narrative of interesting unusual Jewish personalities - it was all about the business families whose names still grace the buildings. Very dry.
Dear Eve, I'm sorry you did not enjoy my private Jewish Heritage tour, but you don't mention that you attended only half of it. My full private tour always starts with the introduction on the history of Thessaloniki's Jewish Community from the ancient till the modern times so my guests can first have the historical, cultural and political background with some basic facts before they attend the rest of the tour. You did not want to continue to the rest of the walk, so you missed the visit to the Jewish Museum, to some central streets and to the Holocaust Memorial with me, which means that you missed many more stories and narrative I always share with my guests in different places. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Greece and thank you for visiting my city.
