Worth while tour. Finba was a knowledgeable guide and we had good photo stops. Not too strenuous. We learned a lot of history and the economic downturn since the Russian border was closed and they no longer buy oil from them.

This tour was just ok. A lot of it was spent in the car and although our guide talked a lot about Finland and provided some great facts, it still felt a little boring. The best part was Porvoo but we only got 30 minutes in the town. We could have spent 45-60 there and the tour would have been much better.

This excursion can begin anytime of the day, not necessarily shortly after arrival. By the time all guests had been collected it was 2:55 p.m. After getting stuck in traffic due to a gay pride parade, we went to Provo. (We couldn’t enter the Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki due to a baptism.). After Provo, other Helsinki sights were simply a drive by, including the library. We did have some trouble understanding our guide, and no microphone was used in the vehicle. We would have liked more discussion on current culture, and less on early history. The guide was very knowledgeable in this area.

The driver was very knowledgeable and accommodating of poor weather. He was also patient and took questions. We learned about Finnish history, important landmarks and culture. Porvoo was quaint and inviting. Really enjoyed this excursion.

*Beware of this tour company.* The car that picked us up was a small Ford with a "third row" that was in name only. Only a child's seat could fit back there as it did not have leg room. There where six mature adults in the vehicle. This is entirely inappropriate and unprofessional. I wrote the company twice about this but received no response. Below is the content of my email. "Bonita, I don’t know if Finnbar spoke to you yet about my experience with today’s tour. He said that he would. Instead of me writing a public review, I am writing to you directly with the hopes that you will make right a situation that should not have taken place.The car Finnbar drove for today’s tour was not appropriate for five adults. When he arrived to pick up the three of us, there were already two adults in the car. The only place for me to ride was in the third row which only had leg room for a child. I could not sit forward, only to the side with my legs in a contorted position. I was cramped the entire ride which includes a 45 minute portion each way to Porvoo. In addition to the unacceptable seating for me, my wife had to sit between two adults in the backseat in a space that was not suitable for an adult. These accommodations are not appropriate for a tour group. Each adult should have a comfortable seat for a tour in a car. I am giving you the opportunity to make this right with a refund. I hope that you will do so and see that I am giving you the benefit of the doubt to make this right instead of posting about this publicly. Finbar can collaborate all of this. I look forward to your expedient response."
Communication from operator was poor so we waited 2 hours on the pier with no response (they did not answer phone, text, email or messenger). The 4 and half hour tour had NO bathroom options. The African guides were mostly unintelligible. There was only stops for pictures and little explanations of what we were seeing. The vehicle was miserable for a couple in the back who climbed over seats each stop. This was the worst Viator trip we have ever had.
We respectfully disagree with several aspects of this review. First, we find the reference to our guides as "African guides" unnecessary and inappropriate. Our guides are hired based on their qualifications, professionalism, and knowledge, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or accent. Many guests have highly praised these same guides for their expertise and service. Regarding restroom facilities, the guest never informed the guide that a restroom stop was needed. Had such a request been made before departure, our team would have gladly directed the guest to available facilities in Helsinki prior to continuing toward Porvoo. It is difficult for guides to accommodate needs that are not communicated to them during the tour. The tour itinerary, vehicle type, duration, and sightseeing format were delivered as advertised. This experience is designed as a guided scenic excursion with commentary and designated photo stops rather than extended stops at each location. While we regret that the tour did not meet this guest's personal expectations, we believe the experience was provided substantially as described. We remain committed to treating all guests with respect and appreciate constructive feedback that helps us improve our services.
