Esta vasta praça de pedra se desenrola sob a imponente fortaleza gótica que uma vez abrigou os papas do século XIV. Mesmo do lado de fora, é impressionante com drama medieval e escala.
Justo ao lado do palácio, esta catedral românica tem estado de guarda por quase 1.000 anos. A Virgem dourada no topo da cúpula é um dos símbolos da cidade.
Um parque lindamente paisagístico com trilhas sinuosas, lagoas de pato e vistas sobre o Rhone, Mont Ventoux e o Pont d’Avignon abaixo.
Você não precisa pagar para visitar a ponte - sua melhor vista é das encostas ou da beira do rio, onde sua extensão truncada através do Rhône se torna um símbolo de lenda e perda.

The tour started out very good and we were very excited. However, as time went on, we did not end up seeing that much of Avignon and did not end up learning that much about Avignon.

Itinerary was good and appreciated guide meeting us at our hotel next to the Popes Palace. We were disappointed that there was no tasting offered at all. Our tour was not a full two hours. Not good enough for the price.

I would say this was an informative tour, but did not wow in ways other tours have. Although there was only my husband and I on the tour, it felt like there was no real personalization or connection which we have experienced with other tour guides. For a large group tour and without paying too much, it would give you a good overview and history of the city.

Jerome is an outstanding guide. Our private tour started near the city gates across from the Avignon train station. We walked through much of the city along back streets, away from the crowds. Jerome is very knowledgeable about Avignon's sites and its history. The tour went past the Palace of the Popes, Saint-Bénézet (the bridge in the song Sur Le Pont d'Avignon) where he talked about both. Avignon has a long history of Jewish residents including during the time of the popes. Jerome explained what life was like for them during that time. Our tour ended near the center of the city. I highly recommend this private walking tour. As someone with ancestors from Avignon, I appreciated Jerome's deep knowledge of the history of the city.

We really enjoyed our tour of Avignon with Jerôme. He showed strong historical knowledge with a clear and entertaining delivery. The tour was well structured, the pace was comfortable, and he offered practical suggestions for restaurants and places to visit afterwards. Definitely worth it.
