We had the most incredible day with our guide Pepe and driver Johan (sorry if I got his name wrong!) on the Half-Day Tour with Safari Float and La Fortuna Waterfall tour this past January. We started the day with a wonderful breakfast and coffee by the river with a sloth and baby in the nearby tree! Then we drove to the river, stopping along the way when they spotted beautiful birds like macaws. The float down the river was so peaceful and Pepe answered all our questions about everything from the history of the area to the animals and birds that we saw. After we were done on the river, we had delicious food at the family restaurant while they packed everything up. Pastries, smoothies (I wish I had taken pics of it all!) We then went to the waterfall. It is a long way down (and up!) but so worth it. On our way out of the La Fortuna area, we stopped to see toucans and another sloth. They have a good eye for spotting these things! We drove back to where we started and had the most delicious lunch. We had so much fun this day and everything was planned perfectly. It was a very special way to spend my birthday that's for sure! We drove 3 hours from Monteverde at 5 in the morning to make it to the tour and it was so worth it! I will recommend this company and tour to everyone I know that's going to be in the area. It was definitely one of our favorite tours ever.
I highly recommend this excursion. Our guide was AMAZING! He easily spotted several sloths, howler monkeys and toucans from the car on the way to the waterfall. He immediately had the driver pull over and he used a Swarovski scope so we could see the animals up close. We never felt rushed. He genuinely seemed to enjoy showing us beautiful Costa Rica. He was extremely knowledgeable about Costa Rica and the animals. We ate a traditional Costa Rican meal at his beautiful family farm. He served delicious coffee afterwards. He even shared the recipes to his lunch sauce and dessert. We saw a crocodile, caiman, turtle, monkeys, iguanas, birds, horses. All wonderful tour that I cannot recommend enough!
We had an amazing experience with Rainforest Explorers, largely thanks to our incredible tour guide, Francisco. He was knowledgeable, funny, and shared so much about Costa Rica’s history and wildlife. We enjoyed a safari float, a café stop, and an amazing waterfall view. The stairs to go down into the waterfall were closed due to an overnight flash flood, but the views were still great). We finished up with lunch at a local ranch that served authentic Costa Rica cuisine. The meal and atmosphere were absolutely wonderful! One of the highlights of our trip was how Francisco and the driver Jaime went out of their way to help us find a sloth. Jaime spotted a sloth and a toucan and Francisco used his telescope so we could capture amazing photos and videos. We highly recommend Rainforest Explorers, especially if you get Francisco as your guide!
This is an unbelievable safari , as soon as they pick you up at the Resort the adventure begins. Our tour guide Issac was great and very knowledgeable about the flora , fauna and the history of Costa Rica . The ride on the raft was beautiful and peaceful. The Water Fall amazing and the food at the Finca even better. Totally worth it and recommended .
Isaac, Pepe and johann made today’s trip memorable. They were funny, knew every plant, answered all our kids questions. They knew spots where we could see wildlife. The food at the family farm was the best food we’ve had so far in Costa Rica.
The safari float was so peaceful and the waterfall was stunning! Our tour guides Pepe and Edgardo were the best! Oh and the food was sooo good! We’re still thinking about the lunch we had at the end of the tour 🤤
This experience was 10 stars. The entire company has excellent customer service from start to finish. They are quick to respond and always remembered our names. Pepe was our guide and went out of our way to make our trip exceptional. We did the waterfall/pena blancas combo and told him we didn't see a sloth. He stopped the car on the side of the road to show us one. Not to mention how he made sure to find any animal we wanted or get us the best waterfall pictures. Lunch is included and on their farm. It was delicious and made with love. I highly recommend booking with Rainforest Explorers. My only regret is not doing all my tours with this company.
We could not be more happy with the 2 tours we took with Rainforest Explorers! 1st day was with Mario to the La Fortuna waterfall, he was great and went above and beyond to show us many animals and has alot of information he shared. Our 2 day was the river safari float and Tony was an excellent guide! He also showed us so many animals and had so much knowledge he shared as well. Highly recommend!
We were one of the smaller rafts / groups on the river which I think was better as it was more personal The float was interesting we saw basilisks, iguanas, sloths - one with baby in tow, lots of howlers - also with babies but the capuchins were hiding, there were also lots of birds, turtles etc It was really relaxing and peaceful We stopped for a snack before heading off to do separate tours then meeting back up for lunch
Amazing experience from pick up at our hotel to drop off. We had a private 2 hr river rafting float experience with Tony. He's a professor and has a degree in outdoor recreation and tourism. He spotted & new the name of every bird. We saw moma slothes & their babies, white face monkeys, howler monkey with their babies! We had a custom, private brunch afterwards in a river side gazebo on the property of the owners. It was magical and we didn't want to leave. On the way back to our lodge, the clouds parted and we stopped for photos of the Arenal Volcano with blue skies- a site that doesn't happen often or for very long. Every single employee was professional and genuinely nice & the van, rafts & lunch at the owner's property were immaculately CLEAN!
