While the audio tour was quite informative & very reasonable, a few things were quite annoying as we traveled through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. First, the app (Action Tour Guide) sent way too many reminders & required too many sign-in’s & verifications. And as far as using the app, it would restart on its own at sites, even after I stopped it! And it would repeat itself even after I ended it & wanted to move on to a new site. It should be much more able to be controlled by the user. Also the directions for where to stop next were a bit confusing. I think the app could be improved significantly!

I’m glad you found the tour informative and reasonably priced, but I’m sorry the app experience was frustrating with repeated sign-ins, reminders, audio restarting or repeating, and confusing stop directions. That is not the smooth experience I want travelers to have, and I’ll share your comments with my team so we can review these app controls and route-guidance improvements.
To dress appropriately, Good walking shoes & cool, lightweight attire. Ankle support if needed. Carry lots of water to stay hydrated.

It was a nice drive, but we were not able to hike the long distances. So could not see some of the falls or attraction.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was trying to book this experience for me and family… one little error occurred while trying to book and got the dates mixed up… still would’ve like to enjoy the experience if only our time could’ve been changed to the following day… Hell I would’ve paid for the mix up! I understand company policies, but you would think with a little minor inconvenience like that they would have the heart to understand and just accept it and let us use the experience for the next day… it was downloadable audible… guiding us through the smokies… instead I waisted $15 for nothing! Spoke with customer support from some third party company that they use to see if they could just simply move our tickets to the following day, and ofc she wanted to “honor” the policy but no-one cared or sympathized for my situation… that was a let down. Me and my family were at my birthday dinner planning our next adventure and now We can’t go because of a small inconvenience that I feel personally could’ve been fixed without having to type all this!

My Great Smoky Mountains tour is valid forever, as mentioned in the listing and email instructions. The date mix-up does not mean you lost the tour—you can still download it, use it any day, and revisit it as many times as you like. Happy exploring!
First, this needs to be fully downloaded before arriving at the Visitor's Center. It takes several steps and downloading other apps, entering codes, etc. There is almost no coverage at the starting point to successfully do this. We did finally get this done from the highest point in the park, but it took a long time and felt distracting from the overall experience of the day. The narrative is good but very limited and only covers one short route in the park not any side routes. Also, several times the narrator encouraged us to purchase additional tours that could be add ons to this one, but it seems to me since they are all in Smoky Mt National Park they should have been included. What we did get provided good information and was easy to listen to, but the difficulty downloading the app and its limited coverage of routes within the park were overall disappointing compared to other similar guided audio tours we have used in the past.
Dawn, I’m sorry the tour felt limited and that setting it up was frustrating. Since the app works offline, the full tour needs to be downloaded before arriving, especially since cell service in the Smokies can be very limited. I’m glad the narration was helpful, and I appreciate your feedback about route coverage and add-on suggestions. The good news is your tour never expires, so you can still use it on a future visit. If you’ve already left the area, please contact me, and I’ll be happy to help or arrange a replacement tour.
This is the best way to drive through the park, taking in its beauty and learning about the park and history. It unveiled areas we would have missed and gave us ideas of where we wanted to return to explore.
