My wife and I were in Anchorage, between visits to Seward and Denali. We didn’t really have anything planned in Anchorage, so a helicopter tour sounded like fun. We booked the "Grand Knik Glacier Experience" for three landings and glacier sightseeing. I highly recommend this tour. We booked transportation to their facility (I originally thought it could be Uber'ed, but it's a long way). Our driver, Kevin, picked us up at our hotel, and we made the pleasant ride from Anchorage to Palmer. Kevin knew we should be early for our tour in case the helicopter was ready. He had seen people show up late for sightseeing, not be ready, and miss the tour due to weather changes. We had no idea what to expect, so there wasn’t much we could tell our pilot, Sam. He took great care of us and chose a bunch of things for us to see. We landed at a raging waterfall fed by the snowmelt, a mountain surrounded by glaciers, and the glacier itself. The secluded waterfall was great. The water was roaring, and we could feel the spray on our faces. Atop the mountain, we marveled at the 360-degree panorama of the Knik Glacier. Walking on the mountaintop tundra was strange; it felt springy and soft. On the glacier itself, the water was so blue, and the ice beneath showed deep-blue crevasses. Sam again took great care of us, providing us with strap-on crampons so we would feel secure on the ice. We booked this trip because we didn’t have anything else going on. But it turned out to be among my favorite activities in Alaska. When I return to Alaska, I’ll make certain to do another tour.
Our polite Jack was exceptional, explained everything and was very patient. Our original tour was cancelled because of the weather, check in people helped us book for another day pretty quickly, highly recommend this tour and our poilet
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip this morning, Aaron, our pilot was amazing and provided us with a thorough education. The staff was courteous, attentive to our needs, and each person we encountered made sure to ask if our experience was what we expected.
It was an amazing experience and If I can only give our pilot Alec 10 stars, I would. He is a great pilot and warm personality! Thank you Alec for bringing us back to our family🙏
What an experience! I truly enjoyed this tour. My pilot, Steven, was very knowledgeable and explained everything that was going on, and shared personal experiences regarding landing sites. Breath taking views were over every horizon and I was a little sad when the tour was over. I could have spent all day out there and still not want it to end.
Awesome ride with Josh. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to be around. Did the later afternoon and it was perfect.
Steve was am excellent guide. Will go again if we are in the area
A must do if you really want to experience the glaciers of Alaska. Gavin, our pilot, was friendly, shared tons of knowledge, and provide a safe and comfortable tour. Just wow! You actually land on Knik glacier and have a chance to explore. The other landing locations share amazing views of the glacial valley. Would recommend this company to anyone.
I had the incredible opportunity to take the Knik Glacier Landing Tour, and it was easily one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. The beauty of the glacier is difficult to put into words—the vastness, colors, and pristine landscape are absolutely breathtaking. A special thank you to the team at Alaska Helicopter Tours for providing such a professional and memorable experience. Our pilot, Cory, was exceptional. Throughout the tour, he shared fascinating information about the glacier's history, formation, and unique features. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for Alaska made the experience even more meaningful. From takeoff to landing, everything was first-class, and the glacier landing itself was something I'll never forget. Standing on a massive glacier surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth was truly humbling. If you're considering a trip to Alaska, I enthusiastically recommend this tour. In fact, if Alaska isn't already on your bucket list, it should be. The beauty, scale, and overall experience are unlike anything I've ever seen. Thank you again to the entire team for helping create memories that will last a lifetime! 🚁❄️🏔️
This tour was absolutely amazing — truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The glaciers were breathtaking, and the entire tour was extremely well organized. The staff were professional, very friendly, and highly customer-service oriented. This was my second tour with the company, and once again they exceeded expectations. I would gladly do it again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Alaska. A special thank you to Ashley, our driver, for picking us up, sharing so much interesting information about Alaska, the surrounding areas, and the wildlife, and safely dropping us back afterward. Aaron, our pilot, was amazing throughout the experience. Thank you both for making this trip truly exceptional for us.
